haha, no worries dood, but honestly i though my 6*9s sounded ok.....until i put in my JBL GTO 936's today and  they sound sooo much better, compared to the previous speakers these make a hell of a lot of difference, so yeah, speakers should go in next, they'll make a huggge difference champ...

ha!
i tottaly know you mean, my 1st HU install resulted in the alarm self-arming and the mechanic coming out to fix it :doubt:
Im good now i swear!
you dont have to solder them together, i just twisted the end together (At least 2cm of twisting) then just taped over it......hell, its only a ford!
have you got plans for speakers? splits? 6*9's? anything yet?

i haven't looked but ill probably want to spend about 500 for the lot like an amp 6x9's for the back then splits at the front. but i have heard that if you get REALLY good 6x9's the front are useless

hehe, you will hear a ****load of things dood.
im pretty sure for $500 a setup similar to mine (recommended by Magnat And MitsiMonsta)
would be ace for $500
Clarion Splits ( i got the SRS 1625 model, but only 40WRMS...)
JBL Rears, awesome sound quality, and massive power handling (mine are 100WRMS)
and a jaycar 4 channel 4x100
Off ebay the amps are $220 about
Splits about $150
and Rears about $150 too give or take a few..
there are a crapload of setups out there, that is mine and so far so good (only got the rears in Rofl!)
i would go fronts, or else the sound will be coming to far away.....
anyway good luck dood

I think the best thing to do with $500, is to spend it only on a set of splits. Forget the rear, you barely even hear them up-front. Have a look at Hertz HSK-165s (~$350), and hell, if you're in Victoria I might be able to get you a set of JL Audio TR690-TXis for around $150. (So that's $500).
Hertz HSK-165s are good bank for ya buck splits, you can also have a look at Boston, and Focal.

yeah after about 3 days of f*cking around doing bit by bit, me and my mate finally finished my system today... can't believe how good it sounds... better than the system I had in my silvia (the best system I have ever had so far, even though it is a budget one)....
the sound is very clear and as I have splits, sounds very smooth & surround, but instead of my usual hearing sound from the back, it is mainly from the front, the way it should be! (previously only had co-axials in the silvia, front & rear).
End product is:
- JVC KD-G416 MP3/CD HU
- MTX 260w splits in the front
- JVC 200w 3 way 6.5 inchers in the rear (have the series 2 bracket - thanks to the pointer
by Ralliart 410 :D - so easy to install the 6.5ers in the 6x9's space)
- crappy Boss 15inch 800w sub in box (but I still reckon it sounds better than my 2 Pioneer
10inchers so nerr!!! - flame me if u wish!!! :P )
- JVC 320w 2 way amp to run the sub (the RMS rating is not that much lower than the Sub)
- and a cheapie 'Saint' brand 900w amp to run both the splits & the 6.5inchers (this amp did
the job running my Pioneers subs for about 4 years no problems and far outlasted my
crappy Boss '1000w' amp that was in my wifes car for not much more than a year,
probably only used for a few months in total before f*cking up!!!
I am very happy with the sound quality for the amount of money I ended up paying... let's see...
Mp3 HU + 6.5 speakers (came as package) - $197 (cheap as!)
MTX splits - $164
JVC amp - $103!!! (20% off at autobarn only just picked it up today lol!!!) - normally $129
Boss sub - something crazy like $80 about 2yrs ago at a Strathfield sale-a-thon (those sales that run from midnight onwards!!!) apparently 50% off at the time - much cheaper than my Pioneer 2x10 subs that I bought in a box with the Saint amp, second hand - 5 years ago for $400!!!! (was a bargain AT THE TIME!!!!)
- so I would count the amp as $100 I suppose... (100 for each sub and 100 for custom box - which I gave away and had to custom make a new one to fit into my silvia at the time)
+ the wiring etc which I am not sure of the exact price, but let's just count as $100
(over-estimating) as an approximate... I bought decent wiring but knew a few places to buy from cheap (2 amp kits, rca's, fuse, etc)
= approx price of $744!!!! very good bang for my bucks!!!! man, I remember when decent BUDGET systems used to cost around $2k!!!! (more than 5 years ago that is... maybe 10?!!!)
These days you can get decent sound for under $1k!!!!
- very happy budget magna system!!!! :D

ive heard coutics are a very good brand, but why are you going good amp crap sub?
the amp is also only 200WRMS, whereas the sub can handle almost twice that.
im just thinking that amp will be a waste as its not very powerful, im going to say check the response brand again - better bang for buck.

yer i was a bit iffy about the sub aswell but the guy and my mate both said that the sony sub is good bang for buck. they also said that i would never use the full capabilities so the amp would be fine. also the amp won amp of the year last year according to JB they had a certificate n all for it.

ah yes, this is what the salesman at hi-fi supermarket tried to woo me with.
i mean the sub can handle 380WRMS so thats not to bad, but yeah, that amp even though its won a few awards, well maybe you could go for a jaycar 4 channel, you could bridge one channel, which would give you 380WRMS, and have another 2 channels left for some rear speakers or front speakers, with another 100WRMS on tap per channel....
but yeah sony aint the best.....but if your happy with that, thats fine.......umm how much is this amp going to cost you by the way?
becuase you can get the jaycar 4 channel off ebay for just over $200....very good value
