View Full Version : Te car wont start? engine warning lamp lit. error in transmission

Got a magna TE 1996. Car wont start when the engine warning lamp lights up it does this sometimes. Got it diagnosted guy said theres an error in the automatic transmission relay
i think error 44-45.

Does anyone know where this relay is??? ACE mechanic said it was in the transmission
but a few people have said its not.... ANY CLUES HELP!!>>>

Hi Marc
First I would check the battery
I assume the engine is turning over
If you've had an engine transplant check battery earth cables are good
Haynes W/shop manual doesn't show location of A/T Control relay, but it appears to be external to the Tx.
Diagram shows it's fed by fuse #15 via a white/black wire going in & an orange wire going out. Control is from the engine ECU.
Fault code #44 simply says ignition circuit
Other possibilities are - engine control relay and fuel pump relay - both mounted in centre console accessed from driver's side
A common problem is the inhibitor switch mounted near the A/Tx dipstick coming loose or is intermittent
