Hey guys i dont often visit the 2nd gen forums but here goes

A friend of mine is in need of an engine either new, rebuilt, or from another magna for his 94 Verada.

Any idea of the cost of

New engine
rebuilt
2nd hand engine
etc

and where can he get one

Not sure if its the 4 cyl astron or the 12V V6 so any advice is appreciated.

Is it fitted or not fitted?

For a reconditioned motor, BM Higginbottom do the Astron, fitted, for about 2200, and the 6 for around 3200...

For a new motor, the cost is almost prohibitive. I was after one for my KR, and the dealerships that I rang wanted upwards of $4000, unfitted.

For a secondhand, which in my opinion is really just a bandaid solution, wreckers and the like average about $1000 for the 4 and 6 alike.

$3200 for a rebuilt standard 6 is a rip off.

The parts are about a grand for the full "kit"

There are plenty of the import ones about, these are generally about 1200 and are about $60k old. I have fitted many of these to many cars and for general street use have not had any problems.

You could buy mine for a few hundred bucks lol It's just sitting there doing nothing.

It'll run as is, could do with a rebuild soonish tho.
