Hey guys,

I'm still looking for rims for my car (Have been for about 3-4 months - I'm VERY picky) and just cannot find a damn thing that fits my tastes in my 7 inch wide constraints for insurance/legal reasons. Been through EVERY brochure from most of the shops around melbourne and online.

Has anyone got their wheels certified by an engineer on here to make them legal? I know Ego has, although I'm not sure about the differences between NSW and Vic regulations. I've heard so many different stories about whether they can even do it legally or not and would love to hear some real info on it.

I've heard the cost is around $500, which sucks but I don't care if it means I can get wheels I like. If it can't be done, I guess I'll have to be stuck with rims I don't like, which is not what I want to do.

So if anyone has any info, prices, contacts etc, I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks,
Josh

They'll insure for whatever is legal, and anything over 7" (One inch increase over stock) is deemed illegal by VicRoads.

Contact Vicroads, get contact details for engineering signatories and then ask them.

its for that model or series TJ had sports wagon and 16x7" rim so 8" and same off set be legal.

I asked about that, and before I'd even finished my sentance I was shut down, with the guy saying 'I don't think you'd find anyone who'd do it'

I was told that it was based on my tyre placard, which states I should have a 6" wheel on it.

Yeah that's because you asked VicRoads themselves.

Just ring them up and ask for a list of engineering signatories, without telling them what it's for. Just ask for the list.

Talk to the engineer about what you want to do. Hope that helps
