Hello,

never been on here before but wondering if anyone has encountered power window failure? My driver's window is inoperative, even though all the others work. It seems to be intermittent... I've taken out the console on the arm rest and checked the driver side switches/connections visually - they seem to be ok. (I don't own a mulimeter to verify) Further down the cabling is much harder to access... just wondering if there's something obvious I could do myself before shelling out for and auto electrician?

cheers,

Matthew.

Without the meter you make it hard. You could try making up a test light using any 12V light with a couple of wires coming off it (meters are pretty cheap at dick smith and they can show you how to use one) .

Try taking off the door card and see if you have power coming to the window motor. Just connect 1 wire of your test lamp to a good earth (any of the screws/bolts on the door will do) and using the other wire, touch it to each of the connections on the motor while you operate the switch.

If you are getting 12v on at least 1 wire each time you operate the switch you probably have a dead motor. If not, the problem is probably the switch. :D

Oh, by the way, gidday and welcome to AMC, hope ya get lotsa info and enjoyment outta the place. Good to see more 1st gens. :D :D
