Hi
Im sorta mechanically inclined but stuff like this i got NFI... But, if you change JUST the pistons in a stock magna to say ralliart pistons, is that going to make a big difference to performance and anything else??

The Ralliart motor has a bit more work done to than just pistons. Things like the cams are different, heads are different and they use double valve springs. IMO, to go to all that trouble to swap the slugs to Ralliart ones you might as well go the full hog and do it all. You will likely need an piggyback ECU also (unless you vcan get you hands on a Ralliart ECU).
The answer to your question is no.

Ralliart pistons will increase the compression from 9.0 to 9.4 :1. Should give a small increase in torque and power over the whole range. If your going to pull the engine apart to fit new pistons then consider other mods at the same time such as head porting and cams. Even go for 10:1 pistons, but will need a piggyback ECU and retune.

not sure about needing a piggy back for the ralliart bits ... i know u can run the ralliart cams with standard ecu no problems ... u can even run RPW's stage 1 cams off standard ecu .... but the pistons etc i wouldnt know one way or the other,

Yeh I meant needing a piggyback for 10:1 pistons, especially if other mods are done at the same time. Mixture and spark timing will be out. The 9.4 pistons should be OK with the standard ECU, but reset it first.
