My TF is 3.5k from its 60k service. I normally do the filter and oil myself to save a few $$ but is the 60k service a big one? I like getting them done by the dealers just for the logbook stamp. Also I'm on a budget after my motorbikes recent $700 rebuild put a sizeable dent in my wallet.

Most people would have it stamp regularly or forget about this whole stamps thing, the fact that people like to see it regularly serviced by "THEM". Else whats the point having a serviced stamp only at 50k? If you want them to give it a full check, go ahead with it. But dont go with the mentality of the stamp will do any good, It only works if it is being done consistently.

Its a give and take situation. You save some bucks to service it yourself, but you loose the authentical so called "checked" and serviced by the dealers which would cause some people to think that you didnt send it in regularly. But again there are some who can see from a well maintained car and the stamps dont mean jack. Important servicing such as the timing belt should be left done by the dealers though, IMO.

Cheers!

60K service should just be a general oil change and check.

Not to expensive, have a look in the cars manual if you have it, most of the list should have 'Check blah blah' etc.

Ring around also, should not be more then $300 one would think, I believe the 100K is alot more as parts need to be changed..

did you know that places like k-mart tyre and auto and ultra tune and repco tyre and auto can do this and stamp your manual... infact about 90% of mechanics can stamp your book to say that theyve done the service according to the maunal. and to be honest, you have a better chance of a proper service being done not taking it to the dealers...

try a yellow pages (http://www.yellowpages.com.au) search for auto mechanic in your area and see what you come up with. call mitsu first so you have a good idea on how much they rip you off.

 Only problem is that Ultra Tune quoted me $350 bux for 60 k service and mitsubishi $130 bux. I think that Ultra Tune is THE BIGER rip off than mitsubishi.

130 is good, just a general service and check over.

At least mitsubishi have *some* idea on the cars
