Hey all as you may know i've just about finnished by first (but unfortunatley not the last) fibreglass boot install. BUT everyone all ways goes on about tunning frequencies.

What the hell does everyone mean. I've built a sealed box but i am able to change to volume to some extent if the box is a incorrect size

Could you let me know the proper way to tune the box or whatever you do

Generally people will be referring to ported boxes. Where you can adjust the frequency of the port by making it longer/wider according to the size of the box and the sub specs.

Sealed boxes are much more forgiving. So I doubt you'll have to adjust much. Just make sure it is solid to avoid flex and make sure it is sealed everywhere especially around the sub edges. (use speaker sealant)

With sealed boxes, smaller = better power handling but worse response
bigger = worse power handling but flatter and wider response

Specific sizes will change according to the subs thielle small specs.

You should measure the volume of your enclosure, and try and match this to spec. Use winisd and enter the specs to make life easier.

What sub? What volume enclosure? Got pics? Sounds like some good work.

Peace

Tim

All the same stuff as before. Was gonna get new stuff but money is tight and just wanted a new look + better sound qual.

Is a kicker L5 15 and Kicker 600.1 mono block (rated 705RMS)

Yeah been playing round with that program, getting some intresting results.

Not sure of the exact volume of the enclosure yet, but will fill with water when complete to get exact vol.

All you audio people are gonna love this install. It kills my last one :D mind you it has taken 10 times as long to do. lol

As for pics your gonna have to wait till its all done (sorry) i want to start a thread with progressive picture and write up for the whole thing.

Its a massive project, thank god i had the week off, but still need more time to complete.

Will let you know what is happening :D

I found the Literage of my Enclosure using Bean Bag Beans and a 1 Litre Jug, 1 Litre of Bean is 1 litre.. So I added Beans and Counted the Jugs.. Got 40 litres per chamber exactly..

Getting the Beans Back out was easy..
