Hi all,
this is my first post and I am new to the group.
I recently bought a 2002 TJ Magna Sports, and was wondering if there was anything I should look out for???
It is the 5 speed Tiptronic Auto, and has about 81,000Km on clock.
any info would be greatly appreciated.

I have an 02 Sports, mine's a manual though.. My airconditioner compressor has died and been replaced twice, and I had a small plate in the factory exhaust manifold come loose, which is a common problem, so that was replaced.. otherwise I've had no problems with it. Mine's only 55,000km old too.

I've got an 02 Sports manual also and one of the pulleys for the fan belt is almost dead, will be getting replaced under warranty tho. Other than that they are a very good car and won't fail you. But mine only has 60,000kms so it's only starting to wear in.
When you reach 100,000kms tho be ready to pay out for a new timing belt and rear sparkplugs, while your at it I recommend getting the injectors cleaned also. Thats about $1200 all up incl labour will vary from mechanic to mechanic.
PS Welcome to the AMC.

dude i got the same in a 2001 model. Just make sure the car has had a proper flush in the transmission. check to see who did that service(45000km i think) and if not a dealer, ring and ask if it was done. i got mine with 60000 on the clock in August and it had not been done. so i got it done as it was slipping a little under load (around 5500 revs) before kicking into 3rd. it is common for them to rev a few hundred revs when changing but no more. So far as that prob with the exhaust manifold, put some extractors on it....it is the only way you can start to keep up with the manuals with out 'em. congrats on your buy

trans (must be maintained)
handbrake can rub.
apart from that no worries so far.

yep get it checked
I think the details are on www.recalls.gov.au although if it has been serviced by a dealer it should have been done - though mine wasnt despite only ever being serviced at a dealer. there is a sticker inside the rhs door under the a pillar if it has been done. but don't rely on the dealer to call you - check the web and book it in

noticed the sticker inside the door actually but have not read it as yet, I know it is for recalls as my work VY commodore has same sticker inside door
