Ok, so it's got to the point where the rattles in my car are becoming more and more common due to my bassy music lol but the one that is annoying me the most is my rear view mirror. if you look closley it's made from 2 parts, a back, and a front peice of plastic. (ignoring the actual mirror here) and from what i have noticed, they're a bit loose, i can hold them tighter together and it not only stopps the annoying rattling sound i get, but also severly reduced the mirror shaking. Now, the question is, can i tighten my 2 peice of plastics up? glue? or new mirror? keep in mind, this is a kh xi mirror, so i have that high beam sensor thing too :|
any ideas?

have u tried pulling it off, then putting it back on? worked for me when Jase done it. seems like it was just slipping out slowly.

how do you take it off? i've looked in the workshop manual and its not very descriptive. apparently its easy to crack the glass?

yeh when jase done it i thought he was gona crack the glass!

it seemed pretty hard to pull it off, and putting it back on needs some force too. just ask Jase aka TZABOY

Ive tried cardboard, and sticking stuff in the bearing.. and it reduces it a little, but it doesnt seem to stop it completely.

I just drive along with my hand pushing on it half the time. Works best hehe. But yeh, if you come up with anything let us know cos its been driving me insane for a year..

I put deadening on the back of mine ( sheet not paint ) and wrapped the shaft in electral tape and blu tack in the ball bit. Dam it take alot to stop it though. :doubt:

I put some synthetic grease around the ball joint and put a thin black cable tie tightly around the end of the shaft where the ball joint is. Does the job nicely.

We are talking about the rearview mirror by the way! :bowrofl:

TF mirrors dont rattle at all fyi

Only way to stop rattles is to increase the weight, (stop viscoelastic transfer) blutack wrapped in duct tape, sound deadener, etc etc

Or separate the two rattling surfaces.

no, the problem is with the mirrors on TH onwards, they changed the design slightly.

Here in the states we use a girls hair band (or more specifically a 'scrunchie', you know the type thats basically a rubber band but with a bunch of material sewn onto it). this absorbes a lot of the vibration between car and mirror so reduces the rattle.
