View Full Version : Bloody demister
I have a problem with my rear demister, it isnt working. i tried cleanin the area and reapplying the clip. The current gets all the way to the clip but i dont think it gets onto the metal coating on the window. (I turned it on yesterday an some smoke came off it . I checked it and the current still got thru the clip, i cleaned the window and clip and glue them together using a conductive glue. After all this it isnt working and my window is getting dirtier and dirtier from fingerprints while leaning on it while reapplying the clip. im just so sick off it and i want to know if any1 else has had this problem or if they can give me any ideas as i have no ****ing idea anymore.

I recently had the same problem and solved it by soldering the pad back onto the traces of the rear windscreen. In my case the traces on the original pad had come off so I had to solder onto the traces at the edge of the window. You might have to sand back the traces a little bit with a little wet and dry as well. Don't use too much heat as the traces are very thin and if you apply too much heat I think they might come off! I'll take a picture of how I did mine and attach it when I get a spare moment if your interested.

Its a "dry solder joint" problem - the solder has fatigued, no longer conducts.
Easy job to just resolder it, just need to make the solder liquid & flow again.
Use the smallest solder iron you can get (15-20W max), too hot & you risk the
glass cracking from overheating the little area.
