after a few hours work today, i finally got my focals in the rear on custom MDF mounts i made up :)

very happy with how it turned out, only a slight hesitation from the grills going back on, i think the tweeter might just hit. other than that there was no dramas, except having to use a right angled screw driver, 1/2 a turn at a time.... damn i hate those things!!

the new sub and box should be installed later today/tomorrow, so i'll actually be able to hear how it all sounds! :D

really? i was thinking more around the 80-100hz region, but i guess the new sub should play higher frequencies better than the last one!

and one thing, maybe you could of sprayed the MDF black so they dont stand out like dogs balls through the cover.

i thought about spraying them with some under-body black spray for a little sound deadening, but it just gets messy :D luckily you cant see them thru the grills anyway

looks very nice and tidy

nah you cant see them through the grill, especially with tint
I've done the same but with 6 inch 3 ways

Good work :)

what you running? i kinda regret not recessing them into the MDF a little more so the grills fit over the tweeter better but hopefully it wont cause any hassles.

oh, BTW, i used 18mm mdf, and recessed into it 5-6mm so the speaker has about 12mm holding it. 8mm might have been a little better.

Nice work. Looks neat. Have you sprayed the underside of the parcel shelf with any liquid deadener???

I reckon Tim's on the money... 150Hz High pass vote from me.

Do you reckon a 6 or 6.5" set of splits would fit in there, or would you need to 'get custom' with a hammer???

i've got a small amount of deadening on the shelf (and some rubber foam stuff to stop the trim flapping on the metal!) will probably do some more after as i've still got a little left over.

i cant see there being any problems fitting a 6" in there, the only thing that gets in the way on mine is the tweeter being too high, but using thinner MDF would help that heaps. no problems with magnet or anything.
