I've got my old TN Magna Elite back from it's new owner (sold it 18 months ago to a friend) as whe wanted me to have a look at a problem it's developed. She complained it had no power. A replaced accellerator cable and new plugs and leads, it goes a little better. I'm concerned about a missfire though. It makes it splutter when you try to drive off and then it picks up but you notice it surge and carry on when you drive.

I suspect it's either injectors or possibly valves. The engine has only done about 45,000 K's though so I'm hoping it's not a problem with the head. I've checked the computer and it says everything is fine. Any ideas? Or am I on the right track?

Misfire's are usually electrical, hows the dizzie cap and base timing. :)

Found the problem! It was the hose between the air cleaner and throttle body. It had a nice big split in it. I fixed it and it goes much much better now. Makes sense now and even explains why the computer was reporting no errors. Stupid me!!!
