Just came over the news, sales have slipped bellow 1000. I know sales would be down at christmas, but that is less than a lancer!
I like them, especially the vrx - I've been seeing alot more of them around Adelaide, that should spur the sales when people see them on the road.

Edit: - no fleet sales until march apparently - so these sales are mainly private - doesn't sound so bad

VR-X & GT look good, especially in loud colors, but base 380 looks really bland.

They might sell more if Mitsubishi Dealers weren't driving them home at night and spinning the wheels on them on the public roads.

If anything that should add to their "sporty" appeal lol :D

No need for despair just yet...

As said above... give it more time... lets try to stay positive yeah? If we bury it with assumptions and negativity then why not lets just close the section down hey and call it a day? Just our convos in here can sway opinions... I am sure there are more eyes that view these pages than who we see and/or know.

Xmas is not the best time of year for sales like this... it's like employment etc... people get a bit more cautious of the big spending... that is why I haven't bothered looking or a new job... there is no point right now. Buying a car at xmas is a bit risky for most unless you are rolling in monay

Optimism FTW!

they would prolly sell more if the freakin let ppl test drive them!!!!!!! it took me and a mate aaaaaages to get a test drive and it was only cos my mate sorta knew the salesman there!

then again, after the test drive i wasnt impressed so they might not sell more.

definately a nice car to drive, nice smooth gearbox and all but i like my TJ WAAAAAAAY better!

time is all we need. No ones gonna go out and buy a brand new car without knowing whats going to happen with the company. Mitsubishi just need to prove they're in it for the long haul, which they will when fleet sales start coming in. I would have thought 1000 private sales in december was pretty good considering its a large car, not the cheapest car to buy/run and its december, xmas time etc.

Don't think it's too bad considering that's only private sales, plus who would buy a 2005 car, when 2006 was just the next month.
If it was me, I would be lookin for a substantial reduction or just wait till 2006
If ya wanted to trade it in in 2008, the dealer would claim it was 3 years old not 2, but if yer buying it, it would be 2 years old not 3, you know what dealers are like

Build plates are everything, especially for fleet buyers. Most are holding off until they can purchase a 2006 model, for tax and warenty purposes. Give it time.

Not happy about the news but not totally unexpected either. If you look at how many 380s have been built to date versus how many are already gathering dust then the latest sales figures were always going to be very poor.

2006 has already started badly for Mitsubishi Australia before they have even commenced production this year of the 380.

EDIT - My personally tally of 380 sightings on public roads is now 5. Saw 2 in Dec and 3 this month.

I see at least one a day, but no more than 5 (in Adelaide)

I agree - doesn't make sense for fleet buyers to buy in dec and loose heaps of cash value on resale for a few days.

bring on 2006 ! :)

Who buys a car over christmas.........

Many people do. In December 2005 a total of 79,277 new vehicles were sold. Unfortunately not enough of these people purchased a Mitsubishi 380.
