As above,
Looking at what car to buy next and thinking of downgrading from my TH/TJ plans to a TF, then noticed that the TF sports had tiptronic! :D. So my question is, do all TF sports have tiptronics, or is it a certain model, an extra or a build year thing?
Also the TF sports seem to be around the same price as a normal TF (maybe $500 more), so would be good to have the tiptronic.
What other features does the Tf sports have over a normal TF?

lol ok ok,
Maybe a better question is,
Are there any standard automatic models in the TF sports range?
Or are all the auto models Tiptronic. Pretend theres no such thing as a manual for a sec :P.

All TF Sports autos are tiptronics, MMAL debuted the tippy in the TF sports

Sweet thats what i wanted to know :D.
So if see a TF sports with a standard auto (i've seen 1 on carsales) i know its dodge :).
Were there any issues with the tiptronic being its debut? Or would they have all been fixed by now if there was?

The tiptronics had no unique problems compared to the regular autos if that's what you mean.
The TH Sports have the 3.5L and dont cost that much more, so you might as well have a look at them too.

I'll have a look at them but it'll depend on the kind of deal i can get, and if there are any available when i'm looking, could only find 4 TF sports for sale on car sales :O.

Thats what i actually asked in the first post, but i have done a little research and this is what i could find:
TF sports has tiptronic auto
Tf sports have cool sporty seats (they look awesome!)
Tf sports has a silver frame around the dials, which also looks good (was gonna do that to my TR :)).
16" alloy wheels (which i already have a set of LOL).
Not sure if it has cruise control, elec windows etc. Will have to wait for someone who has one to say. but that would be awesome if it did come with those.

IMO if you get a 3L tiptronic you will regret it. Id pick a manual TF exec over a tippy TF sports anyday....

Got the rest of the article?

As for buying manual, i only have an auto license and cbf going for my license again :P

*EDIT*
If i ended up finding a manual that was just an awesome car for an awesome price, i'd probably consider it.
Anyone know how much it costs to re-get your manual license? Can they take away your auto license if you stuff up?

The suspension is slightly lowered. Noticeable next to other stock models but nowhere near slammed. The interior is darker too, not just the seats. The dash is black, instead of grey. Also came with a rear sway bar. Cruise control was standard but electric windows were optional.
Heavier than base models with no additional power, which means slower on a straight line but supposedly handles better.

hmm, i might also look out for a tf sports instead of the kh verada now :)

personally i like the tf sports rims than the verada/awd ones, but i cant complain they both look good on the 2nd gens :D
yeh i liked the looks of the kh verada coz of the rear lights and the huge bumpers, but since the cost of them are still expensive i might also downgrade for a tf sports, i want a car with the tippy than the normal auto

Yeh i've always wanted tippy, and i've never been a big fan of having alot of power, though sometimes my TR just doesn't quite have enough, so i think a 3L with tippy, would be perfect for me :).
Keep in mind guys that i am not a performance nut, sure i like seeing done up cars and love the atmosphere, but i'd rather drive something comfortable with enough power for everyday driving :).

how long b4 you get your full licence? because once you are off your Ps, it doesnt matter what you've got.

how long b4 you get your full licence? because once you are off your Ps, it doesnt matter what you've got.
August, so i mean, if i wasn't planning on moving out in may, i'd probably be able to save up enough to buy a TH/TJ manaul outright, or close to it in August. But i'd rather buy my car before i move out, so that i dont have to worry about a loan. But just started weighing up my options, after tax i'm only earning $1700 a month, by feb i hope to have about $2-3k saved, then if i were to wait until say august, i'd have 5 more months of $1700 - travel expenses so say $1500 a month. Thats another $7500, which say totals $10k.
Then there is my car, which after selling all the crap off it and selling the actual car, looking at about $2.5-3k. So thats roughly about $13k all up by august, which would easily buy a TH 3.5 outright and cover insurance etc. But if i'm moving out in may, that cuts my monthly down to $400 after bills etc. So by may i'd have roughly $6500, then plus car collateral of 2.5k, so thats $8k all up. Which would cover a TF.
If i buy my car in Feb, i'll have only about $6k all up including old car collateral. Which means i'd have to get a small loan, that i could pay off pretty easily though.
I guess it all just boils down to how long i want to wait...GRRRR lol.

Basically i'm thinking now, theres no real point in me getting a newer car, when a TF will satisfy me fine :).

I want 2 buy my next car b4 I do the airbag it.

I had bought My Girl stock standard and decided to do her up. And I'm still open to ideas that I may have missed. Not interested in tinkering with the engine though, she goes fast enough. Handles extremely well. I thought it was extremely good when I first bought it. It is far superior now since I've had work done. My Girl is an outside appearance car more than anything not a speed or inside car. Along the highway ur not even on the planet if u know what I mean..

chrome boot garnish? parabolic headlights?
So performance wise you've just done the zorst?

3WORLDS3
09-01-2006, 05:44 PM
Yes performance wise the zorst is all I've done. The handling was improved a lot once mags were put on and lowered. Yeah the chrome boot garnish looks good. That will be on the to do list. Thanks. Already have the chrome exhaust tip. Think I might just give the headlight a bit of a miss there. I can spend that kind of money else where according to EGO's reply to a post. Actually the TF sports may have been all right as it already has some of the things that I have added and would be a lot cheaper than what I have forked out. At least though with doing it myself I have what I want and no one else will. If u live in the city u should pick up a TF reasonably cheap now anyway. If u can wait til May 2 buy ur car, u would get it cheaper, end of June is even better as car dealers don't want cars at the end of financial year time. I got mine mid June at a good price compared 2 net prices at the time I was buying and that's in the country. Plus I got a 3 year warranty on it. Don't know if ur buying private or through a dealer. U should get a car cheaper if buying private than through a dealer. I liked the 3 warranty myself. I am sure u shall work it out. Best of luck..

Just my 2c-

I have a TF Sports Tiptronic, and it's a pretty sweet ride... But I have parents with 3.5L magnas which I drive for em sometimes.... And you feel the difference in torque straight away. The 3.0L just requires more revs and guts to do things the 3.5L's would yawn about :P Revs quite nicely, but that extra strain gets annoying at times.

I say if you can save that extra $1-2k more, grab a TH Sports, tippy w/ elec windows... Or even a KF/KH verada for that matter, if you want luxury... You'll be a happy chappy either way ;)

18mm rear sway bar.
10mm lower springs with stiffer spring rate and harder shocks.
Cruise control.
Elec windows are optional.
Black interior, instead of the grey which rocks.
driving lights.
colour coded skirts.
colour coded grill.
Leather wheel and gear gnob, both black.
Black boot carpet, nice for stereo installs.

Basically a lot of the **** people spend time and money doing, I've yet to lower my magna, as much as it looks 4wd it just handles better in the hills than any dumped exec I've been in yet, they all seem to chop and bounce - probably be a different story if people went the whole hog and got some koni adjustables or coil overs. The cars are very easy to live with standard and unlike an exec don't need urgent attention in certain areas.

But having said that, as someone else said if you can stretch go for a TH, the 3.5 is a better option with an auto aside from the idle rattle and they have red dials(correct me if i'm wrong) auto windows standard, just a few more mod cons.

Heavier ? By what a sway bar and a cruise control, I'd take that 6 kilos anyday.

lol it's funny because that's pretty much what i'd do if i bought an executive. Black interior is sweeet :).
So does the TH sports have the leather wheel, black interior, and black stuff as well?
I've been offered $9k for a th sports, is this a good price? about 150k kms i think it had.

9k sounds pretty good to me, can't remember if the TH's are black inside but they've got a leather wheel, and the seats have slightly better fabric IMO, they dont grab stains quite as easy. They just look a little newer(is that a word ?) and combined with the 3.5 you can't go wrong.

TF sport:
Based on Exec with factory cruise and A/C, I think driver's airbag and ABS aswell.
Differences are:
Leather wheel and gearknob.
Black interior with rainbow inserts, big shock that one when I saw it for the first time. Jury still out on it.
Silver cluster surround.
Lowered ride height with unique rear crossmember with rear swaybar.
Front foglights from Verada.
16" Verada EI alloys with machined face/black windows.
Rear spoiler with intergrated LED stoplight, unique parcel shelf with no CHMSL.
Deleted front mudflaps, Mitsubishi recommended against fitting them as they may be ripped off. No may be about it, they will be!
Red or black bump strip with colour coded door sill garnish/side skirts.
Only available in red, white, dark blue and I think black. NEVER in kashmir.
3.0L with Verada engine cover with 5 manual or 4 AT tipshift.
Probably some other little things I can't remember.
TH Sport.
As for the TF except:
3.5L with 5 manual or 4 AT tiptronic. Auto gained T/C
Different trim.
Unique 16" alloys.
Colour coded bump mould.
The TH Sport was supposed to be the only model available with the 3.5L/manual combo.

TF didn't come in black, was that deep metallic green instead. The other colours are correct.
As long as the TH sports has the cool seats and the same nice interior, i will try and gget one of those for 9k, had 1 offer but will have to wait until feb :).
Thank you for taking the time to go through it though! :).

*EDIT*
The TH sports came in black :).

Mr Stationwagon

Yeah I thought it was green rather then black. Although it is such a dark green it looks black in certain light, my old 121 was the same to the point that a cop actually called it black when I rolled it. I remember mum looking at one when they first came out, and wondering about the rainbow trim.
