Hey people,
my bad if this a topic that people have brought up before, but i searched around and couldn't figure it out and so i'll start a new thread.

I was wondering if anyone has done a write-up on home servicing and maintenance stuff - like basically minor services - oil changes, fuel and other filter changes, brake pad changes and so on, with tips and tricks for novices. I'm keen to learn more about my car, and its inner workings.

I know this may sound mundane to those who are more mechanically conversant, but i am relatively new to this, and would like to know more about things like this, and perhaps even save money from going in for a minor service that i could probably really do myself for the most part.

I know there is an faq site, but it doesn't really detail preventative maintenance issues and instructions for such.

Anyone have any thoughts / anything to add?

buy a service manual from an auto store like repco, supercheap, autobarn.
