I would be very careful... sounds very sus to me...

Everywhere I rang to get quotes on Unichips which are fully programmable replacement chip said that the magna computer is already very good and hard to get much gains out of. They reakoned the only time its worth chipping magnas is if you do a lot of mods.

If they can really add 15hbhp then why arent heaps of people getting them???
I personally think is bull.

Looks like this one.

I haven't tried it but it makes the engine thinks cold air is constantly coming in by shorting out the air temp sensor so the timing is advanced by the ECU. Reading seller feed back, apparently there some small print on the product packaging that warns that engine damage may occur.

I'm gonna say don't bother.

Did a quick google search on "celox performance" and amonst all the ebay and advertisers hits - there were a few forum threads (mostly UK based) discussing the item - and none of them reporting anything similar to the results the ebay seller claims.

By all accounts.... this item is simply a transistor in a black plastic box which is hooked up 'in-line' with the cars air flow sensor and alters the signal being sent to the ECU - tricking the engine management system into throwing more fuel (or maybe less fuel??) into the engine - hence changing the AFR. However - unlike proper tuning chips or piggyback ECU's, you have no control over what it is doing to the air/fuel mixtures in your car - therefore, potentially risking damaging your engine.

Also - as someone who has had a piggyback ECU fitted to a 3rd gen, I'm now convinced that the factory tune of these cars is pretty damn good - because without significant mods, theres not much gain in power to be made by changing fuel mapping / ignition timing.

ahhh excelent guys i will definately not got this chip, even tho i wouldnt mind a lil bit more of a edge over the rest without spending big dollars but i just love the small print that says that engine damage may occur, haha thats funny and im suprised that somone hasnt installed this, got a ruined engine and tried to sue the turds from selling this stuff. I thought it seemed too good to be true and anyway is bhp a american measurement of hp or what mite it be, iv asked around all my mates and it escapes them. If so how much would the 15bhp convert over to. thanks guys for ya ideas and support

BHP stands for Brake Horsepower. The term basically refers to the net power output at the engine.

If you want to get your car chipped then go for the true and tried stuff; Unichip, Haltechs, Greddy's and such. One I have been looking at for my VR-X is the Haltech E11V2.

One other option if you dont mind voiding warranty completely is to get a totally new ECU. This allows everything to be reprogrammed.

The E11V2 is a total replacement ECU. Sounds like you're saying it's not?

If you want something a little cheaper but still capable, look at the E6X. I have one in my car.

getting an ecu will definitely give u hp gains even without other mods. they would be limited tho. ur factory ecu is programmed slightly more towards economy rather than hp so reprogramming it would make a difference... you could def get better value for money with exhaust and CAI tho.

Thats because it IS.

These are a sham, if you seriously did a search about these you'd realise this has been covered so many times before it's painful.

They're crap, they do nothing beneficial and they're simply to rip you off.

AND there is an ebay thread...*sigh*
