Hi guys,
From somewhere in last week i started to feel this problem. when ever i start my car in morning
it seems like all the power is getign drained out while car is trying to start.
but with in few seconds it starts. copule of times i have to try twice. But as i said it only
happens in the morning for the first start , rest of the day its starts within secs.
I am thinking that it might be battery as car is still running on riginal battery (june 2002)
But then it dosent have battery light coming up at all telling me that battery is duying.
Any one has same issue??? or any idea???
If its battery what battery should I buy and how many Amps????
has anyone tried RACV battrey service???, are they any good ?? (have 15% dicount on RRP price of battries for memebers which Iam).

battery light only tells you when the alternator isn't working not when the battery is dieing.
As for which battery, if you go into autobarn they have a list there of what battery you should use for whatever vehicle, but if you can get a discount through RACV might be worth goign through them. But do they charge to come out and replace it?

Could just be cos your car is cold, but i doubt it if you didnt notice it before. do you have a multimeter? if so you could check your battery with that...

Call the RACV they will come and test the battery for free and replace it if you want.X/heavy duty 520cca is around $127.00 with 2 years warranty. You can get cheaper but usually cheaper batteries are lower rated, made in Korea etc. With batteries you get what you pay for.

Thats more than likely the battery.
Mine did the same thing and I knew I needed to change it but waited just too long and got stuck in town with no power .
It's better when they die slowly cause you can replace it before it lets ya down. When they drop a cell and short internally you get no warning just a dead battery.
If you have a multimeter it would be a good idea to check the charging voltage ie voltage at battery terminals with car running at idle then bout 1500 rpm, to make sure the alternator o/p isn't low <13.5V approx.

Well you were right and it was the battery.
but guess what happend,
after writing the post earlier i finish work and took train backk home. when I got out of station and got into the car. all it made was a low sound of starter motor and that was the end of it.
So i called RACV , waited 15 minutes , guy came and checked the battery and said its dead.
he didnt had new battery and told me that it might take upto 1 hour. so he got my car started and said go home have dinner and he will be there with new batteries. (so kind of him)
So got new battery extra Heavy duty 560 (instead of 430 original) for $139.

RACV brings the battery to you and installs it... not too much to ask for a $19 "corkage". :doubt:

totally Agreed, at 6:30 pm if you are getign a new battery installed by staying at home not even have to touch a single screw. $19 is not bad at all.

Yeah just paid $109 for the Bosch Gold for the Magna's/Veradas form Supercheap. It fits perfect and is a heavy duty one and also comes with the battery health indicator window which i recon is great. Just check that every now and then rather than popping off all the caps and checking that way.
