well after waiting nearly 3 weeks after obtaining a splitter its finally on the car.. looks heaps better now..

got the splitter a week before christmas, and has been getting painted for the last week  how it took that long i dont know, but its done!

$440 for the splitter and fitting kit (gotta love staff discounts) and $120 to paint it..

was easier than i thought putting it on..

Is it just me or does the paint look like its a different colour?
Looks good though, ralliart front bar looks alot better with the splitter.

Hmmm if it's the flash that makes it worse, usually means the paint they used is either cheap or they didn't apply enough clear coat. Just in the photo the splitter looks slightly darker (still pretty close though). Probably a closer match than my spoiler is anyway lol.

well the splitter itself was a darkish grey when i bought it (primed) and i'd say that it hasnt had enough coats.. there wouldnt be clear coat on it as it isnt a metallic colour..

im also surprised, i can drive places where i didnt think i would be able to without scraping.. so its all good :D (mind you, i crawled over the speed humps..)

yeah u will find that the original paint is creamy-er than the new kit in most white cars. my mate jsut got it done to his corolla and was alot diffrent colour to that one!

meh a good wax will prolly sort it out :)

kit is incredible tho, i want one like it for my 2nd gen :D

yeah, ive got the tin of the left over paint that was used, and it is very similar to water.. apparently it has had 5 coats.. meh, im not too worried about is as i havent had it out in the sun yet (only went on this afternoon) and its been raining/overcast ever since.. plus the flourescent lights in the garage do all kinds of funny things to the finishes on cars..

You will need to be real careful with the front splitter on. There are reports of people cracking their entire front bumper aswell as the splitter by hitting objects or going over speed humps to quick. Your $560 splitter will end up costing you over $1200.00+ if that happens!

I took mine back off... Scrapped bloody everything...

you spent nearly $600 on that tiny little peice for the bottom of your front bar

EDIT: I should add, the car looks great, gotta love white Ralliarts

Its just that if it was me, id rather spend that $600 on a whole new VR-X bumper :P

well so far so good.. been to work today, and around a few places, and havent scraped YET! (touch wood)..

sola|2a: no mags just yet, just got $1120 worth of new tyres, so we'll wait for them to wear out before considering new mags.. and im not really that keen on any of those mags either, nor any that i have seen. If i end up getting some, i'd want to make sure i'd be happy with them..

so yeah, im pretty pleased with it, even though it cost the earth. Dont plan on scraping it any time soon, and it has to come off when it goes in for services (work told me i wont get it in the driveway lol ) easy enough to remove anyway, what, only 19 screws and 14 bolts ahhaha

thanks for the comments guys!!

The splitter looks good.

There are a lot of shades of white, but, from experience, even it the painter matches the colour, there are types of plastic commonly used on bumpers where the plastic colour appears to "bleed" through the painted colour.

I had a white Astra that needed to have the rear bumper resprayed, the first time it was slightly off because of the bleed through, the second time they allowed for it and it was much closer, but still not a complete match in all light conditions. (Each respray was after each of three rear enders.)

I wouldn't muck around with it, it appears fine.

yep, this is why it isnt a complete match. I said to the guy today that painted it and he said he agreed it was slightly off and we found out it is because the splitter is made from different material to the bumper. And also the paint he uses is a lot thinner than the original paint.

im not too worried about it.. its fine in daylight as the car is that bright to look at, you cant tell the difference at all..

I did the same. I got mine put on and it made it look better at the front and I figured I can't get up my drive way so is it worth it. Oh yeah and if I did hit something on the wrong angle then there goes my whole front.

I just got sick of the amount of care you had to go through just to drive the car to get some milk.

All I can say is they look good and if you can get around your daily life now without scraping it like you could before then keep it on. As soon as you start to scrap it I would take it off.

It got down to the point with me that when pulling out of a car park if I was the only car then I would be o.k, as soon as you had another car there my face would screw up and then there it goes, scrappppppppppppppppppp

well its been on 5 days and i havent hit anything yet (hopefully i didnt just jinx myself) and havent gone/or avioded anywhere i would usually go, so thats pretty good.

even got out of the drive way at work (dont normally drive into work as there is no parks for us, only took her in to wash it) and that surprised me becuase the driveway crossover is fairly steep, steeper than anywhere else i have to go.

If anywhere i go even looks like i wont get in without scraping i just park on the street anyway.:D

thats reaaaally freaky... i did a photochop of silencr's car with the ralliart kit (which i stole from RINGA///ART's photo) and those are the exact rims i said he should put on it! (the top left ones)
