i didnt replace my shocks and they are fine
yeah, if your shocker units are stuffed... then it's a good idea to replace them. otherwise it doesn't matter really.
it makes sense to replace the shockers (if they need replacing) while you have the suspension in bits.
easiest way to check out if your shockers are stuffed... after letting your car settle for few hours, go to one of the corners of the car (usually the front would be ideal) and push hard down on the car... if the car wobbles all over the place, then your shockers aint doing too much, the car is really only sitting on the springs
you can only do this once then you have to let it settle again...
alternatively, when you take your springs out, you'll soon know if they are stuffed... the piston rod wont retract/extend itself if you push or pull on it.
When lowering your shocks also come under greater stress because they don't have the same area to work with, it is a lot better to get new shocks that can work with a shorter stroke, if you need to get them modified that is, depends on how low your going. I got new shocks when i put my whiteline springs in and it was great so I wouldn't do it any other way - decent shocks need decent springs and vica versa. Otherwise your ride is gonna be sloppy joes.. (handle like a sack of potatoes)

Not always. Shocks are there to dampen, not lift the car. My shocks have never sprung out, but they dampen fine still.

U can get away with butt expect ur shocks to bottom out as they were designed for higher springs i would save enough to get both , cos the last thing u want is to get into trouble on the raod and have shocks that wont perform for u properly.

most places will give u low springs and shocks to suit with new bushes sometimes for around 500$ for front or rear.
i recently got new adjustable shocks all round with the rear end lowered 30mm, same as the front ones for 978$
you can do it ureself, if you know what ure doing, nothing worse than compressing a spring and having it fly back out from to much compression and making a nice dent in ure wheel arch
btw, squealing around round abouts?
do u have pwr steering, if so id consider topping the fluid or checking ure drive shafts.

that aint do nothing it is the back wheels that squeal, not the frount so i dont see how that would stop it and i have topped it up manny times but this did not fix the problem..

yeah, that is true... but when i pushed my shocker piston rod in and out, i could hear the fluid or whatever in there moving around... and replacing them gave me much better handling, less body roll, etc etc
