now im not asking anyone to go out and check, please dont :) unless its on a track but are the 1st gen efi magna's speed limited to 160 kph?
a little off topic but my xmass break caused the following to happen to my GT, cold air intake was changed and the resinator box (plastic thing on the front of the air filter bell) removed the 83mm duct connects to the air filter bell direct, sigma rocker gear had the tapets adjusted no more tic tic tic :) timing checked & adjusted back to 17 BTDC (6 BTDC ecu bypassed) was at 13 to 14 BTDC wtf? i fitted a new fan resister pack omg its rwc again!

Nope, put it this way my Elante's speedo runs out before the car does. The only time my car had **** all up top was when the dizzy was a bit dodgy.

The car should be at 13 BTDC, 5 deg with ECU bypassed.

looking at that pick i need a longer driveway :)
my car with its mods runs way better with the advanced timing when the timing/balance chain was done the machanic must have set it back to factory

When i had my old crappy engine, i got my car up to 160 but it kept cutting out on me (i hardly go over 100k but this time i had to. Long story)
I had to keep kick starting the car with the clutch.

well on the dyno with my old engine it topped out at 185km/h at approx 4750rpm
id say this new engine would make hmmm 20hp more...
it would be a deathwish doing it on the road/racetrack

Hey TM-Terror, a little oftopic but have you had any problem with rain and your bonnet scoop ? I have always wondered about this.

i suppose if i had to drive in extremely severe rain i might get a little concerened, the type that would flood roads and stuff. but ive got it setup so if it did start to form a puddle in there it can run off out the seal. plus im using a K&N cotton filter so it just dries out if it gets a little damp. i dont think a paper one would last too long.
basically the big rubber seal sits ontop of a flat galvanised plate which sits inbetween the carby and the air filter housing. any water that makes it in can be caught in the lip of the rubber seal and pool or go though a very small drainage hole, if it gets too much itll flow onto the plate and seep out into the engine bay. although u can see the watermark in one pic where some water was sitting on the top of the airfilter after it evaporated. the rubber has a layer of dense foam(building expansion joint) which when u close the bonnet compress into the shape of the underside of the bonnet to form a pretty good seal.

fule filter coming up
I had the old Ghost off the clock before, so EFI cars aren't speed restricted. There is a rev limit though.

no there isnt
no speed or rev limiter
Fuel gets cut a bit past 6 grand, I think 6250, or 6500. Shall we call that an engine limiter?

i beg to differ, on my car theres no cut
ill try it again before the new motor goes in

I agree with mad lante, there isnt any rev limiter on any of the EFI Magnas I have owned or driven (and that is a *** few)

its probably not running out of fuel, its just that its running out of puff, a cam with more lift and duration will let it rev out more at the sacrifice of fuel economy/torque during normal driving.
the standard cam is designed to produce max power at around 4750, much higher and you start to lose heaps of torque as the engine is battling to breath.
