WELL!
The beast is going smooth again!
i put more oil in and it helped a BIT with the timing chain,

i plugged the EGR port on the exhaust manifold and it helped the torque alot....

so far this is the list of what has been done
PORTED AND SKIMMED HEAD, REGRINDED VALVE SEATS, NEW VALVES AND SPRINGS
HI-TECH EXTRACTORS
2" ALL THE WAY EXHASHUST-i told the guy it was a 1985, and he looked in the book and said it didnt need a cat converter!!!
REDBACK MUFFLER-(sounds like a squirrel farting in a milo tin at 3000RPM)
ALL NEW SPARK PLUGS, DIZZY CAP, ROTOR, VACUUM LINES, OIL FILTER,
HEAD GASKET (AND EVERY OTHER GASKET YOU CAN THINK OF)
NEW BRAKES FRONT AND BACK-DISKS MACHINED ALL ROUND NEW PADS
THERMOSTAT, RADIATOR FANS X2
the list goes on........

NOW IT COMPLETELY HAMMERS!!!! idles at 800,it sits on 2300RPM on 110km/h very cruisy...
revs off its tits, i just touch the acc pedal and theres no lag or sluggishness at all
it used to not rev past 4500 now it goes to just over 6500...
if i plant it in 1st it chirps for about 5 seconds, and im runnin 205 tyres!

I will get some picks soon, looks way better than before!....

So thanks for all the help! i dont reckon it would of been possible without yous all...

good work ; )
my bonnet scoop is really well sealed in to the air filter housing now so it gets really cold air, makes a lot of difference to power.
the other day at about 11:30pm i was turning left into another road. i was in second gear coasting at about 30-40kmh and i thought i might give it a bit as i accelerated out the corner. to my suprise it broke traction and bagged up like you wouldnt beleive!
i didnt drop the clutch or anything, although the road was slightly slippery though after a small stormy shower.
its nice to have some decent power hey :D

now im figuring how to keep it cooler under the bonnet....

a scoop sounds like a good idea! i have taken off the aircon belt, so i was thinking of taking out the condenser, so it will let more outside air in.

im also thinking of cutting some flaps in the plastic protection cover underneath the engine.
kinda like 10x30cm hinged on the back so air will be scooped "up" into the engine bay....mmmm

all that is left to do is the suspension. a mate has a butter yellow with brown interior(YUK)89 carbied wagon, and its MANUAL with new shokies all round, new radiator, alternator, reco carbie, 16 inch auscar rims (i want to repaint them matt black...)..... but a cracked head.... He said i could have it for $180!

Can u transfer the suspension from a wagon to a sedan???

nice... hope your getting a better 0-100 now :P

also the wagon suspension is all different on the rear but the fronts the same

Yeah. Sedans use three link, and panhard rod. Wagons are a 4 link rear suspension.

a bonnet scoop makes a HUGE difference to engine temperature, at night mine will get up to operating temperature and then settle down to the cold mark. during the day it runs at about 1/8th on the temperature guage even if i turn the air con on. with the old setup it would run at about 1/4 normally and up to 1/3 with the air con on.

Damn im jelous.

Put it on a dyno :)

yeah ive just got to wait untill i get more k's on this engine i think ive only done about 4000km's since it got installed. but after that ill do a dyno run and then take it down the quarter mile at the motorplex to see what time ill do. probably 16.5-17 sec quarter mile.
only has a stock TR/TS cam profile, which is sorta like a stage 1 TM magna grind.

im thinking of getting a different cam in... mabey it will help with low-end power?

COS I WANT MORE!!! yes my preessioussss MOORE POWER!!!!!

i dont want extra lift cos the valves are very close to the tops of the pistons? i think...
, so

waht do i get for more duration?? will i need sigma rocker gear??

and the exhaust sound is making my ears ring now... so how do i make it quieter???

whats a hotdog? my dad says it might work...

anyways any suggestions a will greatly appreciate....

A cam will most likely help with top end power not low (if you get a more agressive one), im pretty sure someone on here, tm-se-red perhaps, said that the self adjusting tappets (i think) can cope with a mild cam.

A hotdog is just another small muffler in the shape of a hotdog :) Where is this beast? still in tassie? I want to hear it :D

Yeah im still in tassie for a few more months, i will probably sell it before i go ,but i love it so much!...

Do you work in the city? i drive to work every now and then, but im mostly on the eastern shore.... eatin common*****s and oranas geminis and telstars blah blah its getting boring so now i take my lil brother to get pictures of their faces!

i made a cai last night and it sounds so sweet now, shhhwiiiiishhhh....
the only problem is when goind fast at low revs, it leans out (too much air getting forced in the carbi) AND STALLS.... especially on the tasman bridge! being an auto this aint cool... so i kick it into neutral and restart, rev the guts out and slam it back into drive....

good for highways though.... but im gonnaa make an air box kinda thing to reduce the "boosting " effect at low revs....

It's weird, my engine temp never goes off halfway after reaching
But then again, it's a stock TR wagon

My first engine went because it over heated, stupid fat ***** driving my car at the time didn't check the water/oil when she went on a 4 hour trip....

You would have thought the temp gauge in the red would have gave it away?
