Well I dont have the ignition barrel on my baby (I think)

I put the key in and turn and it tries to start but just wont kick over.

So I took it to a friend and it is, bugger, like big bugger, anyone got a idea of what is involved with changing one, cuz the guy was saying something about getting lock smith to change the code in my computer and stuff like that..

I have no idea and I don’t wanna get ripped off..

You speak the england good!

I'd like to help you - but i have no idea what you mean.

If the key turns and the engine turns over then the ignition barrel is fine.

Do you mean the immobiliser?

Could be the key switch. Its a round circle around the ignition barrel it interacts with the key and sends a code to the immobilisor disengaging it (the immobilisor) and letting the engine turn over. Put your hand under the dash right near the ignition barrel and feel for the round circle around the barrel at the plastic then follow the cable coming from it when you get to the plug unplug it then plug it back in. Hope this helps either way it sounds like you have immobilisor problems not a problem with the ignition barrel. If it was the the barrel its my understanding that the key would or would not turn but nothing would happen no engine at all (I could be wrong).

I get engine noise but it just wont click over..

I thought that if it was the immobilisor that the car just wouldnt make a sound at all.

But ill try it when i get home and thanks for the help.

Did you try check the barrel? Its a pretty simple multimeter test.

I have never heard of a Magna ignition barrel breaking.

Nope when the immobilisor is triggered you can turn the key and it makes a noise but it wont kick over. i doubt its the barrel when i had immobilisor problems the servcie guy at mitsubishi said i would have to replace the whole barrel. Turned out it was that plug i told you about id be very weary about replacing a part that is so expensive and wont solve the problem.

Nothing. If you re-read my first post i tell you to unplug a plug and plug it back in... that fixed it apparently its a common problem.
