Hi all,
My '95 KS Verada wagon has just developed the following symptoms effecting the interior lighting;
Dashboard "door open" idiot light signals an open door.
Driver's door courtesy light remains on
Interior lights (cabin and cargo tray) remain on
Foot well lights remain on
The obvious culprit is a faulty switch on the driver's door - so I swapped this with that from the passenger side but the symptoms haven't changed.
I'm hoping somebody can identify the problem or supply a wiring diagram which shows the circuit for the interior lighting and associated door switches.
Regards,
MH.
it does sound like a switch problem- but seeing as all door switches are in the circuit, changing 2 around wont solve the problem because which ever switch is faulty, it is still faulty when you move it to a different door.
you are probably right that it is the drivers one that is stuffed, mine is stuffed in reverse- it doesn't switch on at all.
to troubleshoot which is causing the problems, remove one switch from the car completely leaving the wires not touching. if the lights go off then that one was your culprit. get new one.
if lights stay on, then replace switch move on to next one.
if none of the switches turn out to be faulty then its something else, but can't think what right now.. try the above first and see how you go!
if it only stays on when u have it on door then maybe u should take the switch out and take a look underneath, see if it causes a complete circuit under the switch when you move it, thats all i can say as i have never had this problem, and have no-idea what the switch you are talking about looks like as dont have any switches except the one on the roof, which is backward. :confused: The other thing is whether or not it has muddled the order of the things (no-idea how its possible but it happened to my bro) Such as on is on, door is on, and off is off etc...but his was door=door, on=door, off=off. We switched off the car disconnected the battery and played around with the wires under the switch and it worked.
dammit- i had no problems until i replied to this thread YESTERDAY and today my TS wagon pulled that same sh!t on me!
doors were all shut but the light inside stayed on. opening and shutting all doors made no difference and not only that but regarding the roof switch- the light stayed on regardless of position -even when set to off!
in the end it went away when my wife flicked the roof switch on and off. seems to be good now.
so if the lights are staying on regardless of roof switch position then it may be your roof switch. if the light stays on only when in 'door' mode then it may be a door switch.
