Ralliart brakes are a cheap & effective mod

stop HEAPS better than stocko maggie brakes (we all know they suck)

remember i had a TF, so can compare :D

whack some EBC Greenstuffs into them like i did, and your on a win

Agreed. Get a good / right pad / rotor combo with the twin pot fronts and they're 10 times better than the single potter pieces of crap.

yeah i remember my brother a few years back was in the pits for the class races of the adelaide 500....... he was in with some of the magnas and said how the brakes just couldnt hold their own ..

after a good run down greenhill road u generally have no brakes left with standards...... so a whole day out at malalla hmmm let me think GIMME NEW BRAKES:D

priority was to get some go fast parts ... but then the defect came and now the priority is lose the defect and get better brakes strut brace for the track

good plan

look at what im doing, build the car from the bottom up

brakes / suspension / tyre & rim combo

cant build a house by putting the roof up first ;)

gotta have the foundation & framework for it to be strong

otherwise the roof comes crashing down

same with cars, if it goes fast and doesnt stop, your in the poo :D

didn't cummins have a set of EVO brakes for sale? edit: Here 'tis (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26300&page=1&pp=10) these are definately what i'll be going for! Who would have ever thought you'd want to replace the brakes from a 6cyl car with ones from a 4cyl?? but damn the standard 3rd gen magna brakes suck ass!! even the 2nd gen ones are meant to be better! my mates KR has the same rotors as a pajero!

dont really wanna be spending tyat much on brakes though :( ..

yeah but brembo's on an NA magna seems a bit excessive unless its intended for major track work not to metnion the $$$

closer to $300 I think, but yes. And they should address fade through better cooling between uses, but they won't address the issue of just how much force you can generate through a single piston on a small disc. The AWD/Ralliart disks are 20mm larger in diameter, and that's a lot more surface area.

Well, when I checked the prices on the calipers a while ago, they were like $550 per caliper....sooo, I did'nt carry the conversation much further than that LOL lol

As a side note, seriously, mitsu could make a lot more money if they dropped their parts prices a bit....for a basic australian car, some of their parts prices prices are obscene e.g. parabolics, brake calipers etc....

Hi, just a thought on the brakes.

Try this mod first - upgrade brake fluid and the brake pads to Ultimates or similar.

then worry about the caliper and rotors. Its been proven in testing that the above upgrade that is the most noticeable one rather than going to fancy calipers etc.

Like people saying the stock brakes work ok - but not repeatedly, they are designed for the weight and the top speed of the car. In most cases your cars top speed hasn't increased unless your changing diff ratios or bigger wheels - the only thing that changes is how quick you get there. Increased temp range pads will help the repeated stops and the brake fluid upgrade will ensure the brake pressure applied doesn't reduce due to fluid being out of the temp range.
I haven't taken my TJ out to the track yet but I'd definitely try the above before forking out for new rotors and calipers - bearing in mind if you do upgrade them that you don't cover half the rotor with a caliper which prevents the rotor from losing all the heat you're generating.

P.S. I have also heard the the pajero brakes are a good upgrade for other mitsi's such as Cordias ( a mate has them fitted to a 200KW@W Cordia(VR4 eng)) and are the same as fitted to some of the performance sedans.
