I have got a TE Manual Sedan.

Car had a stock stereo with cd stacker put in.
At times the rear channels worked, usually when it was playing cds.
At times it worked with the radio and at times it did not.
At times it sounded muffled and then fixed it self up in the rears.
Radio only plays front speakers, but when i fiddle with the balance control from left to right the speakers work all together on the right or left channel (ie the front left channel allows both left speakers to work)

****
Then today i put in an known good Alpine CD Player.
Used the stock wiring with an adapter so no cut of cables.
CD player works good with all four channels.

What could the problem be here?
I thought it was the deck at first but it seems to be both decks doing the same!
Could it be the wiring? But then why does the all four channels work at times?

Any suggestions? As its driving me crazy!!!!

it could just be dodgy wiring and it moves around in the body, so sometimes theres a solid connection othertimes there is not?
ive got the same problem with my back passenger side speaker

Is your deck new.. its sounds like a stuff deck.. if it works onthe CD and not the radoi then thats really weird..

Maybe its time to spend a few bucks and get a new deck or one thats near new..

What model deck you get..?? :D

The deck is known good... as i removed it from my previous car and it was all good there....
Dont wanna go and get a third deck to realise its not the deck as 2 different decks with the same result.

Yeah but if all is good on cd and all turns bad on radio it is impossible for it to be the car or wiring.. must be something to do with the deck..

thats what i was thinking...

will run a wire from the speakers to the deck not via the stock magna plug and see if its the wiring or the deck and we go from there...

then i know whether a new deck is go or what!

Is Wiring..

Over time the Factory Speaker loom can get Rubbed and the Sheilding can come off..

You need to Rewire the Speakers..

If Both Decks are doing it, then you can elliminate The Decks..

Wiring Is the Key..

Are you still using Stock Speakers?? one may have a Short??

These would be the next on Replacement..

Wiring to the Back of the Car is not too Hard.. I rate them as a 4/10 for Difficulty but the Doors I would have to rate at about a 7/10..

Its a New Deck, get New Speakers , get a Pro to re-wire if you do not think your skills are High enough..
