Hey guys,

I just had a major service on my car yesterday (cam (timing) belt, drive belts, recon injectors and spark plugs) and it was runnin smooth as from gold coast to brissy... Then after turning into my mate's street, it suddenly started running real rough, and blowin out heaps of white/grey smoke.

I've since tried to call the mechanic that serviced it but I just get the answering machine - he doesn't work weekends

Got the RACQ to look at it, and they said the belts seem to be all there, but they didn't touch anythin else. Any ideas on what it might be?

Had the car for 9 months now, and never had a problem, until RIGHT AFTER a major service :doubt:

Cheers, BOZ.

Does it run OK when it's cold?

Blowing heaps of smoke means running to rich.. Check that the airbox and sensor plugs are all plugged in right around that area.. if not it could have thrown a O2 sensor..

I thought when the car blew black-smoke it was a sign of running rich?
Oil being blue smoke
Antifreeze being white.

To be honest, I wasn't 100% sure of the colour cause it was at 11:30 last night and I had about half a carton of budweisers in my system :P

The car is still in Brissy and I'm at home at the gold coast  so if I have time tomorrow I might pop in for a looksee at the airbox area/plugs

I'm gonna have a stab in the dark and say it's related to coolant, or do you just run straight water?

If running coolant then combustion chamber related perhaps.

1/2 a carton and you were driving or did I miss something???

Anyway, if possible, I wouldn't touch a thing and get in touch with the mechanic on monday. Good luck!

White smoke is too lean.

What KB said. Touch nothing and get the mech to sort it out. Hes cocked up something. : )

I'm with Old fart - you've done more damage to yourself with bud than the mechanic did to your car. If you are going to drink north american - go mexican :D

Definitely don't touch anything until you get it back to the place that buggered it, and check that things look the same under the bonnet. I've had things flogged by dodgy mechanics before. To be fair, that was a crash repairer...

if i were you, id wait til your mechanic looks at it again. if you think it will hurt the car driving it there, make your mechanic arrange a tow truck.

Make sure you ask your mech if it could damage the engine driving it back to him - and if he says no - make sure he knows that he will be fixing any damage it has if any from being driven back to him

Hey guys,

Just got a call back from the mechanic today (yes, after nearly a week since it broke down) saying it's finally fixed... Turns out to be the airflow meter was stuffed... So now I wonder if he's gonna charge me extra or not

Anyway, he was saying to me that apparently while the car was running while the AFM was telling the car to dump something like 7x more fuel than normal, he said that about 1 litre of fuel got into the oil... so he drained the oil, but said it was a good thing, cause now your engine is sparkling clean...?

My question is - can fuel in the engine (mixed with oil) damage the engine? Is this now the start of me waiting for something to go bang?? :doubt:

Cheers, Boz.
