On Saturday morning l had my High Flow Throttle body installed and took the car for a bit of a spin.

I was instantly impressed, plenty of punch through the 1-3k rev range. I was amazed by the difference.

The car idles perfectly , butterfly isnt catching one bit, so guys l think this is a definate mod, for the price , bang for bucks!!

Howdy EVLMAG

3.5 L donk I presume?
What do you reckon - how many % more power/torque increase - ruffly?
Did u re-tune your chipster as well? If not, the gain should be even better after?
What about higher revs - any difference? Noise?

Seems VERY good!

hehe - no doub tyou have my old T/B bored out!! haha good stuff - yes - the throttle response is unreal - it is instant now - and you can feel the extra power with less pedal movement!!

(me i have the larger T/B as well - but the machined ones are still very effective!!)

very interesting. might have to look into it myself as the first thing ive noticed in my car is the lack of throttle responce below 50% throttle. Gotta love when ya go past 50% throttle though

Does anyone have pics before/after machining? Just too see the visual difference. Kinda curious me.

I cant imagine installing a T/B to be that hard????

Im sure you could DIY

The throttle body high flowed unit is very easy to fit.

In brief terms unbolt the four bolts and two eletrical plugs and two water lines off the throttle body.

We then machine it without touching the tps or ISC motors or anthing.

Then when machiend fit back up exactly the same. No need to retune or touch anything, then drive vehicle to hearts content.

I would say fitting time is a total of 1 hour including removal.

Killer : Mine is a 3.5ltr. Can't really say about kw increase, im only guessing but a nice 5kw at the wheels low end , but top end maybe be a bit less.

I haven't had my unichip retuned for it yet, will be in the near future, so the gain should be greater.

I feel that low end the exhaust is slightly louder, l have a pod filter so l usually hear a bit of induction roar anyway.

Manual: This one isnt your old t/b as it was my one send over from melbourne and sent back as l have cruise control on my magna sports.

ok no probs then!!

this mod isnt made for top end power - this mod is for throttle response.

Redav ponders over his current finances...

I'd love to see a pic before and after of the TB's as well. More out of curiosity than anything.

So, basically, I pay $x.xx and then the flowed TB comes over then send mine back?

220 refund??? is that to get your old one/standard one back???

I would like to ask if i should get that done when i book my service with mitisman over the coming weeks?

(why did i first say: i would like to ask?? pffft im weird... anyway it would be my first mod... exaust comes later.. i hate the sound of a loud exaust...)

I guess it wouldn't be so bad in this case as most benefits are seen across the rev range and not specifically a top end only mod. If it was a top end only mod then the stock exhaust would restrict it's gains a bit.

What I'd like to know is would an FPR unit be a smart move after this mod? I'm just thinking that if the stock setup has flat spots which cause leaning out and you're allowing more air into the mix early on, couldn't this be a worry without getting enough fuel there?

Pete,
After looking at the AF ratio's while you were doing the power pull on the dyno your AF ratio's looked pretty good. You would be better off getting something like the SAFC or Greddy E-Manage if the budget stretches that far. The FPR is a coarse adjustment for the entire rev range and is usually only employed when your injectors are running close to 100% duty cycle.

Cheers

On a magna with the air meterring air flow unit there is no need for a FPR or computer mods with the high flowed throttle body.

The vehicle will automatically recalibrate itself. trust me.

You only need the FPR unit after yuo have done cold air kit, extractors, exhaust and then throttle body.

Yeah, agreed. I'll stretch my budget to include one of those. Someone has to keep Manual, Booya, Killbilly and MagnaV6Sports13 honest. Can't have all the power in the other states. I was thinking FPR as I've swapped the muffler and the TB and extractors are on the cards.

So what are the dimensions of the machined TB for the KR models, one would also assume this also includes a new butterfly and throttle shaft seals?

Mitsiman

The KR model runs a 60mm standard and we modify it out to 63mm with new brass butterfly and modified shaft.

Email me for prices.
