I have discovered the discomfort of driving the ol' magna for more than about an hour as i am too tall for the seat and have not enough leg room in the front. I am 6'2" so my head brushes the roof and my knees rub the wheel. I was wondering if there is any way of lowering the seat and extending the seat rails that doesn't require me buying Sparco racing seats or some such nonsense.

You sure you havent got the height adjustable seats (and they're up a bit). I'm 6'2" as well and I've got plenty of room. :)

I'm 6 foot, and I get a little uncomfortable once and awhile. My head doesnt touch the roof but my legs get all cramped up. Lucky I don't drive my parents 2nd gen much, that thing sucks to drive interms of leg-room.
You can adjust the rails for them to go back further, pull the seat out and have a look at it.

Is there a height adjuster on TP exec seats? Seems a bit fancy for my noisy magna!
I will have a looksee when it gets light again. looksee with spanners and swearwords that means.
@Ol' Fart: Also do you have trouble seeing the top of the speedo coz of the sterring wheel?

1000 appologies!

That and the hair in the headliner is why i wish to lower my seat.

when i modified my rails to fit my sparco in, there is not much play with the old seats to either drop or shift back the seat.
i installed my sparco for perfect auto position, but im going to have to mod it to more of a degree when i go manual, otherwise my elbows will be steering while my foot will just engage clutch  ure lucky ure tall, shortness sucks.
only thing i can recomend is some cheapy autotechnicas and put the frames on the bottom instead of the top of the existing slide rail without the levelers and you should be fine.

:rofleek: surely YOUR not going manual :bowrofl:
go to a wrecker.. find a se/elante/elite, take out the seat then take off the bracket/rail from the seat, take home (or just take all the seats) then put in your car << im guessing that you have a exec/glx then??

Well I,m 1.85 m or to those SI challanged people 6" 2' and while my head just brushes the roof I could do with more leg room, and I can't see the top of the speedo. (Will a cop let me off with that excuse?)
I have had the seat out and as the front bolts are on an angle it makes it hard to step back by just putting new holes at the back, unless I dont bother bolting the front down and just bend them up flat.
As the seat belt is attached to the seat, with only two bolts safty could be a factor.

.
Well it does but the back-support of the seat on mine is more vertical then most, so it straightens me upwards more.

Mine is one of the many many red execs floating around the streets on its absurdley soft suspension.
If i need elante/se/elite seats, is anyone selling them in victoria and preferably in the western suburbs?

I think; that the seats that do have hight adjustments are to raise them above the standard hight, so if you are a short arse they would be good, but for tall people then they will not go lower.
If I could raise the stearing wheel another 50 mm I would be happy, although I would still have the window winder handle that is exactly where my knee rests. I may have to go the wreckers and see if I can find a soft windor winder that fits, or I will have to do what I used to do with my old Comode and have a rag between my knee and the window winder. Electric would be nice, but I can not aford that in an old car.

I'm really mad at my brother because about 2 years ago he 'borrowed' dad's pair of 1 month old SAAS seats and sold them for $200. Is it worth looking for second hand racing seats?

oh haha. ive said for ages once the auto dies its going manual..... 5yrs and im still waiting for it to die naturally.
and by the way, if ure to tall, the se/elite seats wont help, they only raise u up further, not lower. to my view they sit just a tad naturally higher due to the height adjuster mechanism.

Put on a helmet and neck brace and go over a speed bump at 80 K.
Nice big dent in the roof, problem solved GT40 style lol lol

Hahahahaha :)
Or you could just get the angle grinder out and make your car a convertible, or just cut a hole for your head.

Well when i asked my dad to keep an eye out fo some nice sports/racing seats for me he said "Why?", I replied "I am too tall for the car and my head brushes the roof, i also need more leg room", He promptly walked into the shed and came back out with a chainsaw. Hmm...

I'd be a little concerned if he heads towards your legs with the chainsaw.
