I'm trying to figure out how to mount my amp on the side.
So I've been staring at boot installs all day on here and CAA, but they're all complete and I can't see exactly how it's been done.
I think I have an idea but since I'm still a noob at this, can anyone give me some ideas or even better some pics?

Easy way is to get MDF Board, carpet it, mount amp to it, velcro it.

i used angle aluminium to hold it at the bottom and 1 screw to hold the mdf at the top ... now way is it going to move ... dont think i have any pics of it before we glued the carpet down though but i'll have a look

If you want to install it in the boot?
False floor Under Existing Boot Capet and Use Screws to mount it under there
Side Wall of the Boot : Pull back Carpet , Cut MDF to a Nice and Snug fit, use Contact Glue to secure to the Inside Wall, recover with the Boot Carpet and use Screws to mount the amp
Under the Front Seats: Remove the seat, lift up the Carpet, Install a Small sheet of MDF 12mm minimum, replace carpet and Screw into their..
Dodgey Methods None of these I recommend but I have seen being used...
Use Double Sided Tape strips and Mount to Carpet where you want to install it
Use Stick on Velcro Strips..
Use Blu Tac...Blu Tac gets stuck in the Carpet Fibres like Chewing Gum ... Makes a Big Mess, yet I have seen it being used..

i want to do the same thing Mad iX wants to do, i was basically going to use L brackets or something like that (havent thought this through extensivly as you can see) and screw it directly onto the floor.......might have to make a new base aswell, cant use the stock 3mm MDF really.....
then i was going to carpet it, poke holes for where the wires had to go and voila.
cant wait to see how it comes up Mad iX, good luck with it all!

Find service holes screw through them. Then just cut the MDF to fit...
Im constantly taking gear out so very rarely is anything properly mounted, I just screw them onto my box (2 amps) or onto a large strip of mdf. (Electronic Crossover and sub amp.)

On the right side of the boot (possibly the left too) there are four bolts. Its easy to go and grab some L brackets from bunnings that fit here exactly. You'll need a big screwdriver to help get them in but they fit pretty snug
I got pics but imageshack is down atm... will get them up soon

question to tim:
if a fire decides to start in your boot....why do you want the extinguisher there aswell? isn't it going to be hard to get to, amongst the fire and all????

I need an extinguisher mounted for SQ comps. Worst case if there is a fire in the boot, I can still grab the extinguisher. Whilst people without an extinguisher cant do anything.
No space to mount it in the car out of the way. I could stick it on my dash, but might look ghey.
I know many cars have them stock in front of the drivers seat, but im not a fan. So its either in the boot or in the laundry at home...

fair enough, fair enough, just a bit of curiosity was all, i meant mainly for when your driving around and smell smoke....only to realise half your boot is alight kind of stuff but doesnt matter :D
