it's all relevant to how much you want to spend, that said single or twin turbos will tend to fix torque. :D

Turbo's will fix low end torque issues will they?

Last time i checked the various methods of forced induction provide heaps of additional torque...

He didn't say that he is having torque issues, he asked for a way to improve (get more) torque than he has currently.

My post was merley an attempt to guage how much the OP was wanting to spend in order to improve the torque of their vehicle.

Which part of LOW END torque didn't you understand?

Glad to see you happy to flame people over small oversights yet aren't willing to offer any usefull advice yourself, lighten up champ.

Hardly.

My 'useful advice' would be to convert to manual.

Owning a 3L auto myself, I can agree with you in saying that they are SLOW off the line...rolling starts they have alot more punch, but down low...no way.

Your best bet would be to get a custom set of extractors made up with really long primarys...

Other then that mate, the 3L autos are fairly limited in the way of modification.

I wouldent bother converting to manual...costs you a fair chunk of money and reduces the already poor resale of the TE.

Maybe sell up and buy a TH 3.5L Manual?? :D

As Tonba stated, the best way to to improve response is to help the car breath. A free flowing exhaust, stainless or aluminum intake, aftermarket filter, high flow cat, maybe port the throttle body a little. Much past that and you're getting into big bucks

Not only will this free up some tq from the engine but will also adjust to tq curve to be straighter then it is stock.

Here's some light reading for you firstly: CLICKY (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29485)

Secondly seek comfort in the fact prototype #2 with smaller runners and internal plenum work is nearly completed. This unit should deliver crushing low and mid range power at the expense of top end.

You might be able to get a stroker kit for it :D
I read somewhere that the N/A 3000GT motor (6G72 DOHC) has a compression ratio of 11:1. I'm not exactly sure if this is the case but if it is you could just throw in the crankshaft, conrods and pistons in from that and you'd have heaps better torque.
Although with that compression ratio you'd HAVE to run it on the best petrol you could get, or alternatively convert it to dedicated gas (gas can withstand much higher compression ratios than petrol before you get detonation).

Got to say i am suprised at manuals being faster off the line. my car is a 3l sohc auto and i can flog almost any commodore, falcon, magna, skyline off the line. the problem is after the first 100m when they dont gradually overtake, they fly past.well the eights and turbos (keeping within reason) anyway. obviously the really done up cars are always faster, but back to the point i've never had a problem with low end torque, its always the upper end thats avoided me
cheers dave

you would have to get an oversize throttle body and a fuel pressure regulator.
thats about the cheapest way to do isnt it?
thats what i plan on doin soon anyway.... $600 odd from RPW.
my car is slow as off the line - gotta be fixed :)
