Ok..I finally have a half way adequate setup in the car:

Front JL Audio 6"
Rear JL Audio 6x9
Woofer: Earthquake 600w
Amp 1 for speakers: Noname 4x75W RMS
Amp for sub: Coustic 400w
HU : NoName with DvD, Flatscreen TV for pasengers.

It rocks!

Special Thanks to Gerard, s_TIM-ulate, ICUH8N and slyts6

But: Does anyone have a clue how "tighten" the central rear view mirror? Its vibrating like hell now....it cant really be used to observe traffic (unless the volume is very low)..Any hints, fellas??

UPDATE: GLUE WORKED FINE ! LOL

hey, that qmax sub box... did you do anything to it? Or just whack in the sub and bobs your uncle?

I have the same box with a pioneer 12" tswblahblah306c or whatever sub in it... goes hard, but the box seems as 'thin' as something made of 10mm chipboard would sound. I've been thinking about bracing it with 18mm mdf on the outside to see if it makes any difference. What do you reckon? It plays low enough, but just seems to lose it's breath like the box is flexing a bit. I want to make a better box from scratch, but just interested to see if the bracing would improve the one I've got. I think it might be just a tad too small volume too, so not really letting the woofer go as low as it could.

FHRX... I know it's not a substitute for the right volume, but how much does stuffing the box fool the woofer? Does it see a 40% larger enclosure? How much stuffing should you put in? I feel like playing and learning. Is the volume gained from inverting the sub likely to make a noticeable difference? I would have though NOT... as it's a sealed box and the sub has a displacement of 3.3L. How much does the volume have to change before you notice a difference?

Oh, and chantra... how's the sub go facing the side like that? I've got a wagon too... have only tried it firing at the boot...

We got one of those Qmax boxes to flex with a $99 Kicker ES sub running off a boss amp ( 2 channels of a 4x 250W ). I was thinging of putting the G5 in it with 600WRMS  But dont want to hurt my sub when the box falls apart.

Most of the flex was in the perpex, as cool as it looks, it is the boxes downfall. Bracing the outside will definately help it but you would need to cover the perpex in fiberglass or something if you really want to make it sturdy.

Fiberfill will do really nothing. If a sub is in a 1cuft box and you fill it, it will see around a 1.2cuft box and not much bigger. Inverting will give you extra volume yes and with the fiberfill you probably still wouldnt notice a huge amount of difference but you can try it.

Whilst Sub Positioning is relevant to the sound, I would be Very Concerend about theft..
Is there not some way you could have made it stealth??
I did an Install for a Guy with a Camry Wagon, we made it look like a Baby's Nappy Change box.. We Constructed it out of MDF, Covered it in some really Babish looking contact and put Two Huggies Nappies either side of it so it looked more authentic and he has had no theft from it yet...

Just A pitty we did not think of taking photo's

Hi mates...

The Sub rockz hard where it is right now. More than enough "feelable" punch.
As for security:
I am just about to install that cargo Blind which will cover up everything....I got the blind....its just that Mitsu want 70 bucks foe each adaptor...That kind of sucks! Still looking for a wrecker that might have these adaptors .....I hate waiting!!

Would've been better to go with tinting, as I think you're allowed to tint as dark as you want on the back window and the back left and right windows. Not 100% sure though.

ring up VICROADS and see if you can get the tailgate window and the 2 rear windows overlooking your sub tinted at like 20%......good security measure

I have the cargo blind.... :D It's magic... that qmax box sits underneath it with nary a ripple... ultra secure.

My qmax box doesn't have perspex... it's just a plain sealed box. Would yours have perspex chantra? didn't look like it... but then again, can't see the back panel.

20% isn't dark enough. I have 20% all-round and I can still see through mine in sunlight.

You gotta go 10% or 5%.

10 or 5%...hmmm, sorry i didnt think you wanted THAT dark. :P

i mean for nighttime 20% is awesome, cant see in at all, but yeah during the day you can see in, maybe you should go reflective aswell?
