What kind of range (kms) people are getting for their magna 3.5ltr from a full tank?? I got 610kms the other day from my TJ VR-X but it was mostly country driving.
Does the VR-X range differ from the stock standard seeing its got extra horses under the bonnet?

610kms sounds about right.
I tend to top up as soon as the light comes on which does so very early.
Technically I'm averaging 11.7l/100km so for my 68l tank, gives 580km range.

i got a 71litre tank i only use 55->60 litres of it! i dont want to run out  . i get 500 to 550 out of a 55-> 60litre amount! but the sports exhaust and k&n panel filter improved on it from 500km max out of 55->60 litres
oh yer most of that is doing 80 to 90km\h for 60% of my driving

normally fill up at about 65L.. its handy with the trip computer becuase it tells you exactly how much fuel you have used.. the fuel light comes on at about 55L used.. so there is still 16L left..
im averaging about 11.8L/100km.. so thats about 550km out of 65L.. not too bad for mostly city/suburban driving..
lowest ive had it was 9.9 with most of it highway stuff.. so approx 650km off 65L..
magnas are good on the long runs.. not the best on town driving.. but i can put up with fuel consumption as its expected to be higher as its a big V6 family sedan..

Worked it out the other day.... 9ltr/100km :D
Im happy with that especially with fuel prices nowadays.
I do a fair amount of freeway driving though.

I drove from Lake Macquarie (south of Newcastle) to Taree today thats about a 170km trip each way and I filled it up and reset the trip computer and it avregaed about 8.5L per 100km and that had three of us in and a full boot, so I was very happy with it.

yeah....thats sounds about right. Used 50.0 litres the other day on a bit of a country trip and averaged 10.2l/100km but city driving its get up to your figure of 11.8L/100km. I suppose i've haven't stretched her legs yet since i've got the car a month ago. Planning a driving trip up the SE coast and was trying to work out the fuel cost....all i know really is that its going to be high with current prices!

Good work!
do you use premuim U/L ??
When I first got my TL, I caned it hard. I managed to get down to 250 Kms per tank. I average about 450-500, which for my driving style, and a Manual, surprises me. The Fuel card helps too, because I don't find out how much I've paid for a month.

most of my driving is 50/50 country/city, i seem to be averaging low 10L/100KM so yeah about 550K's from about 60L i dont drive easy all the time either.
my dad's 3.0 TE Wagon managed about 750K's driving to Mt Gambier so what most people are saying sounds spot on

my 3l does anywhere from 800-900 on the highway out of about 65l, and round town i get about 550-600. ive never had less than 450k's no matter how hard i drive it.

I average in the low to mid 700's. At the moment I'm doing about 50-50 freeway and suburban driving and the trip is showing in the 8-9L per 100km range. This is on ULP

I normal get around 630-650 from a tank using Premium.....
Most I have ever had out of a tank was 710 when I went around the state a couple of years ago....
I just came back from holidays in coolangatta
on the trip up from newcaslte i re set the computer
and was averaging 7.3 l/100 k for the first half of trip
then turned a/c on and average went up to 7.5
thats with 2 adults and 2 kids and boot chookers
and did it on one tank (was pretty pleased with that)
only thing i fogot to check the ks from newcastle to coolangatta
was just glad to get there
fuel light came on just as i got into coolangatta
ps took aprrox 7.0 hrs driving time sitting close to speed limit

there was a magna in at work today (TH 3L) and its avg. fuel consumption was 8.1L/100km.. this was fairly accurate as the trip meter was last reset 6000-odd kms ago.. 8.1 is bloody excellent fuel economy..
thats about 870kms out of 71 litres.. bloody impressive

Hi all.
Today (yesterday for non Qld'ers) I drove to a town 140k away, when I left there I filled up
with Vortex and re-set the trip computer, drove back home...99% highway.... flat roads, only me in the car, sat on 108k on cruise control....(one notch below 110), 8.4 the
computer said when I got home. Air con on all the way.
I can get it into the 7s on the same trip, but only by slowing down to 95-100, and not
using the air con or cruise control. The cruise control will use more fuel up even gentle
rises, in my experience. More economical to speed up a bit before a rise and just let the
speed drop back as you go up the hill with a constant accelerator position. With longer
and steeper hills though, you just have to gas it a bit or kids on push-bikes will
overtake you!
This all assumes of course that the trip computer is accurate. But the times I've done the
calculations myself, its agreed with the computer.
But driving in super economy mode is a pain, and tiring, for not much gain.
Driving around town during the week is a different story......10 to 12
820k is the furthest I've driven on a tank. Unintentional, hanging out for a servo to
appear.....any servo. Middle of the night....middle of nowhere. Made it though!
My vehicle is a TJ auto.
