G'day
just wondering if anyone knows how to change the lights behind the dials on a 94 TR. Is there a way apart from pulling the whole dash off?
cheers

You don't need to take out the dash to get the cluster out.
Theres two screws above the cluster in that black panel, then that black guard trim will slide out.
Theres something like 2 screws on each side of the cluster it self, then it should just slide out unless I'm forgetting something.
Oh yeah, the trip meter pin just pulls out towards you don't cut it off or snap it :p
If all else fails, go find a Gregory's manual or something :)
But there are only a couple of screws just above & around, shouldn't take more then 2 minutes to find them all & remove the cluster.

Lethal's right.
2 screws in the upper part of the cluster surround (the black plastic bit)
The 2 screws on either side of the cluster (Ignore the screw in the middle, it's not needed to be removed, that holds the vents in)
and it'll pull out, and yes with the needle, just pull it hard, it'll pop out.

once you take the cluster out its all smooth sailing from here. everything just screws together so all you got to do is unscrew a few bits and you have full access to the whole lot. take the instrument surrounds out and spray them, the lights simply twist and pop out from the back of the unit. i would also suggest you clean the clear plastic cover while you have it off. then just put it all back together and pop it back in. i was really surprised how simple it all was the first time i looked at one of these units. its amazing what you can learn at a wreckers.
Yeah. magwng dead right its all so simple. just use your common sense and a screw driver and u cant go wrong. Just look for screws that are holdin what you want to remove, if it didnt help just put it back. :D you learn the most from just trial and error. Just make sure you put everything back where it came from. :)

magwgn: You've done the same as me? Spending a few hours at a pick and payless and just pulling stuff apart?
It's great fun! lol
