Just to make my boot look a little different i wanna turn the sub around so the magnet is on the out side.

What i wanna know is, can i just turn it round and screw it back in.

The size of the box stays the same and i wont need to do nething else.?

Size of the box will increase slightly, which is usually a good thing.

You will have to change the polarity of your wiring positive to negative, negative to positive, otherwise your sub will be 180 degrees out of phase with the rest of your system, most likely result will be a drop in midbass/subbass if its 180 degrees out (subs push out while mids pull in and vice versa.

besides that and the slight volume change, an inverted sub is exactly the same as a normal sub. There are no audible differences or benefits, (you are unlikely to hear any more mechanical noise over the sub notes anyway.

Peace

Tim

btw hows Wagga going since my departure? Ur nightclubs are pretty cool, but me and my mate almost got into a fight with some freak who wouldnt stop harrassing our gf's ;)

Sweet, really didnt think it would sound ne different, was mainly just for a different look.

A mate of mine said i wouldnt have to change the pos and neg around cus my HU doesnt support reverse polarity.

Yep, a headunit that does have the option will do the exact same thing, just at the rca's instead of at the speaker wires.

so basically what i do is turn it on and if it sounds ****ty just swap the pos and neg around or the rca's??

nope

To change the polarity you have to swap the positive and negative at the speaker terminals. If you have a dual voice coil sub you have to do this for each coil.

Try both and see which one you prefer the sound of, sometimes playing your subs out of phase can help mask the location of the sub. Most of the time people will prefer it in phase (Which for you will be positive and negative swapped)

Swapping the polarity just makes the sub push the cone out when it would otherwise be pulling the cone in and vice versa. As the sub is facing into the box, you want it to do the opposite to get the same pressure wave to match your mids
