View Full Version : To Much Turbo Power
hey guys, you may have heard of me by now, if not now you do, i have a little dilema with my project, basically i have stage 2 turbo cam with ported and polished head, a TDO5H Turbo with head shim to lower compression, probably run this at 10 psi, the problem i have is i want to know how much power the engine can make before it goes bang, because i am aiming for figures around 250fwhp or more, will the bottom end hold up, and i dont want people telling me stuff they dont know, because if you have an answer to this i want to know why, and comparing it to a scorpion bottom end, i know the engines hold up at 10 psi but its the other work ive done that will create more power at 10 psi im worried about.

Hey,
I was gonna link you to www.sigma-galant.com, there are afew very clever guys with efi turbo 4G54s in sigmas, but the site isnt loading for me, anyways give it a try tomorrow maybe.
Id be worried about the gearbox too!
i remember seeing a magna with a turbo on here b4 cant remember where, but i would think they took a look at this as well, even if the turbo/mods are weaker. By the way i have been watching your posts for some time and i'm really interested in what your doing, but i'm not sure how much it has cost you so far and how long it has taken you.
The other thing you can do is maybe talk to mitsubishi, i would think that if anyone knows the limit of the engine/gearbox its them. good luck, and i want hear how it comes up. I know you should put heavy duty clutch plate in but i'm not sure about the gearbox. (Dont forget to change your brakes if you give it 200+fwhp.lol )

Dude, have a chat to MONGA, he's got a Turbo TR. It's running about 155fwhp @10psi.

I think that he's doing up a 4 pot so that stroker kit wouldn't be any good as it's for the V6.

No he's saying booyas wasnt a four cylinder, his was a six. So theres no point asking him.

The sort of info you are after would only be determined by destroying an engine on a dyno. eg. at what torque per cylinder will the rods bend or the crank shatter and what goes first????
( I read somewhere that, at 450ft lb, per cyl the rods bend in a standard VL turbo bottom bend, 450ft lb x 6 = insane torque)
I doubt anyone in Aus would have privately developed a 2.6 turbo to the point where they would have found these figures for the standard magna 2.6L bottom end.
MMAL engineers probably did destructive tests during development of the aussie built 2.6L and might have figures on what torque per cylinder will destroy a standard bottom, and what it can handle all day.
