View Full Version : Bad smell.....no i didnt just fart...

yes its me again.

ok, after i drive any sort of distance, whether the car is hot or cold, wen i get outa the car all i can smell is burning rubber. no i havnt bin doing burnouts off the line, or drifting corners...

would it be the clutch? gear changes seem ok.
brakes? ive only just had new brake pads fitted/disks machined...

suggestions?

wheel alignment? wheels could be rubbing? that would explain the rubber smell?...

holy hell that was fast!

yeah my suspension is shot so wheels could be a possibility! will lookskies 2moro see if there is any un-even wear...

your back brakes could be seized as well, so dragging the back wheels.

nar i think the smell is definately coming from the front...wouldnt be sumfin to do with the auto would it? please say no please say no.... :pray:

noticed any power loss? Feel your tyres, if any are dragging it should be heated up more than usual. Brakes don't usually smell rubbery? anything stucked to the underside of the engine? Plastic bag/worn fan belt picked off the road around the exhaust pipe?

I think it's unlikely to be the auto - I think you'll definitely feel something while driving before you smell it.
check all fan belts. make sure all pulleys are turning freely - particularly the tensioning ones.

maybe cheap nasty brake pads they stink cause that happend to me when I brought mine the guy put cheap pads in for the RWC.
