As I will be selling my current sound system to my girlfriend, what better time to "upgrade"
ATM I'm looking at Monoblocks and subs.. (will be looking into the rest later)
Looking into ebay i found these;
-http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Memphis-16-MCD1500-1500W-MONO-Class-D-Amplifier-NEW-05_W0QQitemZ5854625349QQcategoryZ18797QQssPageName ZWD2VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

-JBL GTi Series 6000Watt
I've also been quoted $3200 for a SoundStream Amp and Subs (not installed) from Gays car radio in camberwell.
Which choice would be better and should I stay away from eBay?
Also is there any other brands I should be looking at?, What subs would be a good choice to run off this kind of power?,
I know alot about home/professional sound equipment but don't know much about car audio so any help will be great!
take a look around...there has been a lot of sound questions lately and all need a similar answer. Take a look at alpine, boston or hertz for speakers etc...

Personally I would stay away from ebay for such a big purchase.
What is your budget?
What is your goal.. SPL, SQ or SQL?
For the amount you quoted why not upgrade the fronts as well.
Ha you sold it to your girlfriend, you must be a "great" gentleman.

They are nasty woofers and not much is louder.
Remember that is has a 3000WRMS handling ( I have seem 10, 000WRMS  into one ) you are going to need a monster amp(s) to run it!! If you spend $2k on a sub how much will you have left for wiring / amp / battery / alternator / etc?

Thanks man,
Don't worry about the money side of things. I'm more worried about the "someone breaking into my car and stealing" side of things lol
I'd better think about this...... 10,000Watts!!
Does anyone in vic stock DD or do I have to import?
Anyways, I just bought a new "yellow top" battery which is sitting in my garage (just got to get the time to put it in)
Stupid Question..Do I need to upgrade or get a new alternator? I thought changing the battery and getting capacitors would be sufficent.

Put the battery in, if it's having trouble powering the big sub then might wanna have a look into a bigger alternator.

Dont buy a cap... Purely cosmetic... The battery and thick cables (2 gauge +) will be plenty.

Thats what I though.. those capacitors don't help out that much anyway. thanks

If you wanted to keep it all DD you could run the sub off a DD Z1, 3000WRMS x1 @ 12V and up to 5000WRMS @ 15V. It is a big mofo though :D
For prices etc you can talk to Marty from Fhrx Studios fhrx777@bigpond.net :D
