Hey!

I agree 100%! Gas is a fantasic way to go. Used to be that consumption was a bit higher, but that was always offset by the laughable difference in price (those with gas can laugh!).

My only concern with dedicated gas, is that there are still towns / areas where it's not available. might be few and far between, but imagine desperately trying to stretch a tank of fuel to the next town, only to find that they don't have any fuel for your car! Never hear of it happening, but my worry is that it'd happen to me, if I had dedicated gas! LOL

Are the engines that were just the petrol engines fine to be converted to gas? Didnt they make changes to the valves etc for the dedicated gas cars? Does this mean that we could expect some engine issues later on because we dont have all the gas bits in our engines?

Has anyone converted a AWD to gas? Also, is there an under car gas tank option instead of the petrol fuel tank on magnas instead of having the gas tank in the boot?

Cars designed for petrol and were converted dual fuel had to be run on petrol every so often to prevent the valve seats drying up and cracking. However cars they make now that are straight gas as designed to last forever on gas without this happening.

LPG, as many know, actually has a high octane (around 100) so technically your car will go harder under gas.

Under dual fuel, compromises are made so the car will run on petrol and gas, but on a dedicated gas system, the car will run a lot better as the engine can make proper use of the gas.

calm down kitty lol

go straight gas coz duel fuel tends to have **** response and also the added wait of a patrol tank.

anyhow, with dedicated gas it can be tuned to be more powerful and will be cheaper to run.

also the engine will be built or modified to run gas better, therefore not giving it uneccesary wear.

enough of this offtopic bull.. back on

Mods, can you please delete the crap in this thread and just leave the topical posts there please. Sorry postman warren mate

I had an XE falcon that did 250,000K on gas with no problems. The ED falcon I have now I got near new at 20.000 and put gas (dual Fuel) on straight away. It's getting up towards 300.000K now with no problems. Straight gas will give you marginally improved performance and economy but if you run out its push or tow truck. :D

Stories about using gas bottles as jerry cans are just that, stories.

Any car thats designed for unleaded should have no problems with gas. I carry 140 litres with twin tanks and that gives me pretty amazing range for a big 6 (4 litre). As long as the gas price stays at or less than about half the petrol price you'll always be ahead. Dont forget theres a small tax hike coming in soon. :D

By rights you should look for a car that has N01 stamped on the complience plate. This means that the vehicle has the "gas compatible" 3.5l engine fitted. However these seem to be like hens teeth to find. So i went ahead and converted my TL wagon to duel fuel anyway even though it doesn't have the gas motor. So far so good, only problem is the lifters are rattling a bit at idle, Mitsu reckons its cos of the gas, but they replaced them anyway and it hasn't made any difference.
The main reason to get the gas compatible motor is that it will avoid arguments with mits if you have any problems. But good luck finding one.
