Heya's
I have this intermitted noise in my front drivers side wheel that comes and goes.. It is a squeek / grinding noise, only while driving, not while braking....!
Ive had Mitsubishi look at it, what a waste of time they are.. Appaarently the pads are fine.. Ive booked in at a brake place next week to be looked at, which im confident they will find what Bitsamissin missed.
Any idea's what it is?
Cheers

Does it only happen when it's cold? This sort of noise are associated with old badly worn pads.
I've had one instance where a new pad wasn't installed properly so that it sat at an angle where one corner was in contact all the time, it got all worn away so the pads metal backing was in contact with the disc a couple of weeks later creating a scratching noise. Lucky I caught it just in time. Some mechanics are just amazing.

Nah mate it happens hot or cold.. I actually thought the brakes where metal to metal, but there not.. It's really annoying coz it comes and goes, it could go away for 1-2weeks, then come back again..

Might just be the type of pads. if the brake place give clean bill of health, you've got an excuse to turn up the stereo.

Its funny you brought this up cos yesterday i was getting a similar noise on the rear brakes. Only occurred at low speeds mainly when braking but was rubbing when not braking. Driving to work today and there is no sign of the noise!
My thoughts are:
The pads are new and the harder type.
Yesterday was very hot...no sure what that could mean??
or I have ill fitted pads
Who knows?

Get you rotors machined or replaced... that fixed the problem when mine was doing that. Rears can be the rotors or it could be the handbrake, next service get the handbrake adjusted ( mine keeps coming loose :doubt: )

Thanks Mate :) ,
Will do that for the next service. The park brake slips a fair bit even from the pull of the auto when you shift into drive or reverse before you have taken the park brake off.
Unless it's just the power of the beast wanting to unleash!!!! :D

I had a similar noisr coming from mine. Got It looked at, and it was the park brake. Build up of pad dust, and worn springs on the park park. Might pay to see if this is your problem.
I had the same sounds but coming from rear and turn out to be the handbrake assembly.
You sure its not coming from the rear?
Drive slowly next to a wall etc and slowly pull the handbrake on - if the noise dissapears - it's the handbrake.

Spot on Mr İharisma, just got car the car looked at (finally) and they fixed the noise problem. All it needed was the back park brake rotor or something like that machined and the park brake to be softened down a bit. He said it was grabbing to tight! oh well beats me...its fixed now and was covered buy the used car warranty....bonus!!:)
