Ok, I know amps have been covered before, but i dont think this question has been covered.

I want an amp to run focal 165V2's up front and a single sub (SQ, as yet undecided). I have been looking at the Audison SRx3 and this is probably the ceiling of my price range (about $600).

I have been looking around a bit today, and the Soundtream Lil' Wonder II 4x60 (4ohms) is the right price and looks good on paper.

Has any one got an opinion on these amps? The small size would certainly open up some intallation options.

I also saw a JBL Grand Touring amp on the strathfield site that looks awsome on paper.

What do you guys (and gals) think of that amp.

I know you get what you pay for (in most cases), but if i save on the amp i can spend more on sub.

Never go by the paper specs.

Cheap $50 pioneer speakers say the can go down to 25hz, but not even the all mighty $1300 3 way dynaudio you would set to that low.

I'm just trying to say, dont trust what the specs say.

And if it comes from strathfield, I would clear very very far away.

Audison are known for producing some of the best amps you can buy.

Most of my customer would (and have) chose Audison over the other two. Although the other two are quite good. :)

Thanks for the tips.

Just ondering though, would i be better off going for the JBL and spending an extra $150 on the sub ($450 instead of $300)? Or am i better off with the best amp i can get and settling for a $300 sub?

To be honest there is not a big difference in performance between a $300 and a $450 sub if you know where to look. I know of many subs that are around $400 that have a great deal more potential than streamline products worth a fair bit more.

You can pick up some decent entry level SQ subs for that price. I would probably go with a Vibe Blackair II or similar. :D For the Price those Audisons are great!!

As far as subs go I am now thinking i might get a boston G2 10". It is definately more than i was planning to pay, but it should sound awsome. Otherwise i will get one of the following, depending on how much i can justify spending.

Hertz HX 10" or 12"

Image Dynamics ID10V.3 or ID12V.3

Image Dynamics IDQ10
