View Full Version : sub & amp, ebay audio
had a bit of a search on here about getting stuff off ebay but didn't really find what i wanted, firts off all who has done it and is it worth it. i dont konw all that much about price differences.
im looking at getting a 12" sub and a monoblock amp, looking at alpine or eclipse, have heard lots of good stuff about alpine, but already have eclipse stuff and happy with it. so anyone got an ideas.
was thinking along the lines of maybe a alpine type R or one off the eclipse SW7100 aluminum series.
is this one a good price or say away from ebay?

any coments from people that have got things off ebay or own anything like what ime looking at would be cool.:D
i need to do something soon, my last car had a sub, but this car has no sub  feels like something is missing.

I'm not really a big of a Alpine products other than their head-unit, but because it's just the amp I don't think it'll make too much difference. In terms of subwoofer, tough call, I'd probably give Alpine a miss and head towards something a little better. All depends on your budget, but I'd stay clear of Ebay, too much hassle. CAA has a forum with "for sale" threads and often you'll find some good 2nd hand equiptment there pretty cheap. Google "Car Audio Australia" without quotations.

70 Bucks for shipping?? I would stay off just for the RIPOFF! No matter from where it is shipped! :D
EDIT To answer the rest of your question:
I have 100 transactions on ebay....with one exception I was always lucky.....Just be sure to READ the description very carefully...a mate of mine in Germany paid 200 Euros for the latest and best graphics card.......packing :D
As mentioned above, I alwatys look at shipping costs and a possible PickUp...if a guy in Melbourne refuses to let me pick an itme up, coz he wants the 10 excess bucks from his shipping price of 20 bucks...Frag him!
Hope it helped! lol
ok any other brands that are good. what about the eclipse sums and amps.
http://www.eclipse-web.com.au/pdf/summer_catalogue.pdf i was thinking somewhere inbetween summer special 7 and 9

i think thats a massive call on your behalf..not bagging any other clubs but i had a friend who is going to court over an amp not recieved from caa..you put your money in somones hand without any sort of assurance its going to come...i have another friend on the other hand who bought $1200 worth of stuff off that audio paradiso guy or whatever the name is and recieved without a hitch

There's always going to be one or two dickheads who don't do their half of their deal. I'm just saying from my experience, I hate ebay with a passion and I have my reasons. I know a few people who have had wonderful experiences with ebay, just going by my experience.
Only time I'd ever do a buy/sell deal with products over the internet is if I know the person reasonably well. Chantra and I had a good deal that has gone without a hitch, why? Because he obviously trusted me and we had spoken and had a good laugh before actually meeting eachother. When am I ever going to meet some guy that calls himself by "audio_paradiso" in another country? Never, I have trouble trusting half of my mates let alone some guy/business I've never met or experienced with from outside these borders.
Just saying, I'd rather take my chances on CAA then E-bay.
so apart from where to get stuff, does anyone have any suggestions on a set up

Budget?
Fav Music?
Any Special Requests?
like just about all music,
thinking somewhere around $900
and special requests, not real requests but have been happy with eclipse so wouldn't mind something they make, but happy still to look at other brands if they make somethig better
what about this. MRD-M605 amp and SWR-1242D sub for $899 they say you save $299
