Hey all
Just lettin you know that i am following the paths of Asylum and Guru and doing the manual conversion to my 99 TH Manual (picture attached).
Why am i doing this instead of just buying a new magna you ask? Well the amount and expense of the mods i have so far is worth keeping and i like black, black magnas are hard to come by, especially in a 5spd.
Power output: i have been dynod at 125kw ATW with the auto, once i complete the conversion i will post up new power output to see what the difference in drivetrain was to my car.
So far the bits i have collected are;
- 5spd box (has a diff oil leak but we will fix that)
- Clutch pedal
- brake pedal
- clutch slave cylinder
- shifter assembly
- shifter cables
This week i will be getting the rest of the other bits. I will be installing a heavy duty clutch.
Total Amount spent to date: $200 (i will update this post as i spend money  )
i will update this thread as progress continues.
Cheers, Dave

Good luck with the coversion...... as you probably know, I went the other way. 5 weeks later and I still haven't got the manual magna up to the same level as my ol' auto TJ, and my old car wasn't all that heavily modded (had a fair few performance mods, but f* all in the way of audio / body styling etc).
The most I got out of my auto was 121kW (so you're ahead of me already), and I've put down an extra 20kW in the new car. I dare say you won't be disappointed with the conversion...... all I can say is it's like a different motor with a manual bolted to it.
Are you gonna replace your ECU like Asylum did? or try and work around the auto ECU?

Good luck with it mate!!!
Good luck. Let us know how it goes and the budget required. I'm thinking of doing similar.
I'd love a manual, but I'm not willing to give up power windows, leather, sun room and fake woodgrain for it!

bit of an update, the person i bought the box from said that it leaked heaps of oil and that apparently the diff had "collapsed"
me and my mate pulled the box apart, couldnt find anything wrong apart from diff/cv seals and very rooted bearings inside the box both on the diff and input shaft, the oil was dark and there was a bit of metal shavings in it but i guess thats to be expecting, no suspect of damaged teeth and the pinion and lock pin in the diff seemed fine and in place (this is what we thought may have caused the leaking as it seems the pinion blowing is a common problem).
so off to CBC bearings tomorrow to purchase new bearings and cv seals then we put the box back together again and start doing the rest of the conversion :D
