hey guys looking at buying a 95 magna v6 for 2k, just wondering hows the motor in them and are they any good? what to look out for etc, trying to step up from my old tn lol
cheers
hey,
Yes they are good motors, and they have potential. I suggest looking out for belts, strange rattles and transmission, they are the expensive ones.

They're pretty good motors, only need to look out for the common stuff like oil leaks (prob main one), belt noises (which could be due to oil leaks or bad bearings, either way could cost alot in the future). If it's auto, make sure the transmission is strong and wants to kick down when you plant your foot. Make sure you give the auto abit of a thrill drive, and see how it goes once the transmission oil is heated up, thats where you'll see any transmission problems. Make sure it shifts smoothly.

Good motors, look for
*valve stem smoke
*oil leaks, especially rear main seal
*tend to crack the head between the water jacket and exhaust port, no real symptoms and have to be fairly hot to do this
*lash adjuster noise
these are good for about 350k before really worn out although i have seen one with more than that
