Hi All,
i'm looking at upgrading my JVC KDSX915 to a DVD headunit.
has anyone got one of the above mentioned unit?, what's it like, i know the price is pretty good (retail $599), but as the phrase goes, "you get what you paid for"
the specs aren't too bad...
Pro's and con's please
thanks in advance
Also...what are people prepared to pay for the KDSX915 ?

You wont be dissapointed mate.
looks good, lots of little colored lights everywhere, awsome onscreen display when hooked up to a screen, plays all of my cds, even the realllly scratched ones !
i have one, it does everything i ask of it....
you can change all frequency ranges, although they are limited to 15hz jumps i think...and are abit of a pain in the ass to control..
that was my only flaw in the deck !

I can say much about the specific deck, but JVC is my favorite brand as far as Headunits go!
I doubt very much you'll have any problems with it as far as reliability is concerned, they are very well built.

i have one of the lowest models kd-g615, not dvd or anything, and i would have to say thumbs up to jvc for creating such a good product in such a small price, from my experience i think you'd be fine :)

Ryda currently have the JVC DVD unit on sale for $349, http://shop.ryda.com.au/main_itemdetail.asp?cat=1&item=KDDV6105
What a bargain! I think I might have to order one. Are these units easy to navigate? I would thing a couple of gigs of MP3s on a DVD would take quite a while to get through, or are they relatively user friendly?

Ryda are on Parramatta Rd at Petersham (i think) in Sydney, near HiTech Mufflers. From there website they do mail order with free postage too, which might save me a trip to sydney.
The strange bit is on their site they have the next model down for $100 MORE than the top of the line unit  Anyway I'm going to give them a call today and try to order it.

i brought one of these to hook up to my system just after christmas, and can i say, im very pleased with it.
i went from pioneer to jvc and its takin a lil bit to get used to navigating around but once u get the hang of it its a bit easier i think.
it doesnt seem to have a very programmable eq, but i just use the presets and find out which one sounds good.. and im pretty content with that.
but yeh overall im very happy with the unit so go for it.
however i purchased mine from jb hifi for 400

I dont have the one you're talking about... I have last years base model JVC and I'll never go back. :D
Actually just finished reading an article in 'CAR STEREO AUSTRALIA' magazine on the head unit of the year. This years base model JVC up against eclipse, clarion, pioneer and kenwood with prices between $500 and $900.
JVC= Best value for Money
