with turbo cars you can have the option of installing a boost gauge, but can you have a boost gauge for a car with a supercharger?

as i'm thinking of purchasing a sprintex supercharger and ricing the hell outta my car?

a boost guage on a s/c'd car is as useless as tits on a bull. s/c's always produce the same amount of boost at a given load, and never go into vacuum.......... so whats the point of the guage?

If all you wanna do is rice up your ride...... why even bother connecting the guages up.... just install them........ why even bother installing a supercharger? just get a "supercharged" badge.

Would turbo be a better option then?????

prolly has a sweeter sound than a supercharger.......

if I was to get a basic stage 1 turbocharger put on, how much would that cost approx?
and being from perth, where would the best place to get a turbo conversion done?

I want power, and I want the car to get noticed.

You sound like you have not the slightest clue between a supercharger or turbo..

And ill make a bet you wont even go through with either..

Just another wishful thinker..

Go the rice, it will suit your needs. You can buy plastic tachos and guages from Toyworld..

I'm with Bain there, boost guages have a point on a turbo, for one eg: if your wastegate gets seized and you overboost like a mofo a boost guage will save your engine. On a supercharger your boost is mechanically limited, you will know that if you gear your s/c to run 7psi, that will be at peak revs and every 1000rpm below that the boost will decrease incrimentally, you can't overboost.

So I think what he was saying is before you come out with "I'm going to huff my car", do some research find out what a turbo and a supercharger actually is, find out that your looking at 10k just for the turbo setup without changing any driveline components and realise that when your spending $10,000, that which one sounds better bears very little importance. The reason people get short is we have other members who have/are turboing and they ask questions all the time, buy most of it bit by bit as they can afford it and learn everything they can, so when someone just goes "I'm going to supercharge my car and get a boost guage cause thats cool" It's hard to take seriously.

Once upon a time Bain bothered replying in depth, he gave up and these days he just gives it straight :P

Edit: If you do go ahead and sprintex your magna, all the best of luck, from what I've heard they're an absolute buzz

don't dis hearten someone, if he wants turbo or super charger and want to spend the money, let him, if he doesn't know anything and he is serious about this he will look into further then make up his mind

I find it very hard to take anyone seriously if they are going down a supercharger or turbo route because of which one has the 'sweeter' sound.

Anyone who is serious with these types of conversions would have done some homework and read up on both types of technology to understand the differences between the 2.
