Hi Guys,

I know this topic has been discussed before but there seems to be a bit of conflicting information going about.

Heres The story anyway

I have a 2.6l Ts Magna Auto, the auto box is on the way out, mits quoted me 1600 to overhaul the box and for the auto its just not worth it!

Also Selling the Car is not an option :(
so i wanna put in a manua 8)

From what i have read/seen i will need:

Manual Box,
Clutch Pedal
Clutch Master + Slave Cyl's
Clutch Cables/pipes and stuff
Shifter + Cables
Flywheel
Clutch

The only things in the wiring diagrams i have seen that are different between the auto + Manual and that would make any difference are the inhibitor Switch, and the few wires going from the atcu to the Ecu, not sure if the ecu is different.

As far as i can tell the mechanical side of things *should* just bolt up.

Are There any other parts that i have missed?
Has anybody actually done this conversion in a tr/ts?

I know this could get pretty $$$ i really only want to know the technical aspects.

Thanks for your help!

Pete

It'll bolt up, no dramas there.

Looks like you've covered everything.

You could hunt down a manual instrument cluster (has no extra stuff on the dials and the speedo goes to 220) if you want...but that's just cosmetic.

I4 you mean ;)

Must be the V6 manuals that go to 220 then, because my old mans KR Verada only goes to 200.

Cool Thanks KB

Have you done one of these before? any tips?

I was Pretty Sure it would all bolt in but i wanted to check before i go spending lotsa $$ on parts.

The Manual and Auto intrument Clusters are the same, 6 Cyl Engines use different Tacho's than 4's and 8's, thats why most aftermarket tachos have a switch or something on them to set the engine type.

Hmmm you'd wanna take a look at my speedo then, it goes to 220.

Plus my manual one doesnt have any of the extra lights that the auto's have at the bottom (ie: PWR, O/D OFF etc) and it doesnt have the gears in the middle of the fuel/temp guage.

But that doesnt matter anyway, back to the task at hand :D

I've not done a manual conversion before, are you converting just the gearbox or are you slapping in a V6 as well?

Because I'm lead to believe they share the same gearbox? Anybody want to clarify?

The only tip I'd have (seen as though I've not done it before) is to take your time and make sure it's done right.

No use rushing and then having to go back to fix something you forgot...
Or worse, having to get a new part because it broke :(

So just slow and steady :D Look forward to seeing the pics

4cyl's go to 200(only on the speedo, not at the wheels!!)
v6 goes to 220

also you might need a different reverse light sensor!
