G'day all,
Well this may be the most stupid question but its important i get it answered. Im planning on getting 2 jaycar 2 x 100 amps. One amp will be for my splits and the other for my sub. My question is that my headunit only has one pre-out. How can I get around this? Ive heard of something you wire to your speaker outs to make more preouts? Any help is appreciated along with prices of what i need.

i think you can get an RCA splitter.

but honestly, why wouldnt you go the 4 x 130WRMS one, use 2 for the speakers, and bridge the remaining 2?

just throwing that up, but i guess you've already considered this

hmm actually i dont know if it will work

becuase if your using the one output, wouldnt the sub be getting the same frequncies as the speakers? or can you just use HP/LP? not to sure?

umm but im sure it has to be 2 in; 4 out
not, 1 in; 2 out

wire the rca out of the headunit into the first amp's line in for the speakers

Then wire from the first amp's line out, into the sub amp's line in.

Highpass the first amp for the splits(wont affect the pass through rca signal) low pass the sub amp for the sub

So you'll need one long length ~5m and a short length ~1 m of rca male to male connectors.

so only one set of RCA leads will be needed?

one long, from headunit to amp,

one short from amp to amp...

Got ur pm...

Sorry thought u were talking about the newer Jaycar/response amps, since it's the older series they dont have RCA pass through to line out. You have two options...

1- Buy two RCA (1 female -> 2 male) splitters attach these to each end of your main rca line from the headunit to split the left and right signal into each amp (there will be no loss of quality)

2 - utilise the high level input and run your front speaker wires into the front speaker amps high level inputs

You need to figure out a way to turn your subs up and down. ( i dont think these had remote gain control on them either) so you can either wire these to come down with the fronts or the rears. I'd go with the rears, then u can turn them down and off and still listen to ur music. If your headunit has an adjustable sub out instead of a line out just run it through the rca lead and run the fronts off the front speaker wires.

Peace

Tim

hmm well reading all this I think i may just run one amp for the moment powering my splits until i can afford a new headunit (need to upgrade anyway). My only concern is that all my music will be really high pitched and will have no bass with just splits? True or False?
Please excuse my ignorance.

not high pitched... everything will stay the same, just you will be missing bass... If you've got the amps, the only thing you'll need to do is. run the wiring from the headunits speaker outs to an amp...

Otherwise wait until you get a better headunit (with sub and front rca out at least)

Peace

Too Easy..

A Deck with one pre-out..

1. A pair of High input to RCA Converters on the front Speaker channels off the deck and use these on your Amp for your Splits

2. Use the Existing Rca output for your subs...

Problem Solved..

Easy to wire up and will give you your RCA outputs for the Amp...

This will allow you to Adjust the Signal from the Head unit giving you more control
Rear Channel will be Subs and Front Channel will be Splits too Easy..

even easier... the amps already have high level inputs...
