This guy was recommended to me by 2 mates. He used to work for mitsi but now has his own business. Did a really good job with my mates TJ timing chain service.

I'd be a little worried to take my car to a guy who replaced a "TJ timing chain" lol

Replaced??? I'd be more worried about the guy who put it in there in the first place?!

Just don't take it to Southland Mitsu. I don't take kindly to dodgy work and work performed on my car that I didn't ask for

australian motors morphetvale are pretty alright, the mechanics r good guys, and one of them has a magna with stage 2 cams and unichip etc
i think asylum would speak highly of them also
adelaide cv was pretty good to me, but since i got a magna i go to magna spares and repairs, they are pretty good and cheap but sometimes the mechanic you talk to doesnt tell the boss or mechanics everything u want done, but then you get a discount (well i did)

Well the dealer tried and failed to fix the front brake problem I had (3 visits) and the dealers 30k away:(
theres adelaide cv on (well just off) mcintyre rd, after bridge rd, but before main north rd. Magna spares and repairs is down the first street on the right after you cross main north rd (heading on mcintyre, you cross bridge then main north).
Check them out if you want

Ive been to these guys before- Really nice guy, but no one there owned up to scratching my rims.
And i was 110% sure it happened in the time the car was at the workshop.
I would easily recommend you to go Graham West Workshops on Marion Rd. Never heard anything bad or had a bad experience with them- Great team of people too!

What did these guys do?
One service:
Aircon belt replacement, they replaced the belt, and a few weeks later I looked under the bonnet for something, and noticed half a shredded belt looped over the new one. How the hell they did that I have no idea. They told me it wasn't from the new one they put in.
Another service:
I told them my fog light stop working. They said one globe was blown, and the other fog light connector was loose. Kinda interesting since the other fog light was working, at least 1hr before anyway. The globe they replaced it with was the incorrect wattage and was way duller than the other one (a parker globe wattage instead of the usual). They also charged me for 2 globes with no explanation of what the second one was for. They told me i had a leak from the cam seal cover and needed it to be fixed (at a big cost)
Follow up cam seal fix:
I get it fixed and gave them explicit instructions NOT to do the full service (ie oil and filters). But what did they do, did a full service and charged me for oil and filters etc. Also they replaced the timing belt without my authorisation. I asked why, they said oil had been leaking onto it and that could make it fail early. I was a bit dubious because when I booked it in, it was still on their records thats I hadn't changed the timing belt, and it was on the work order...the guy at the desk wrote 'replaced at 90,000' or something, so its quite probably the mechanic went and did it anyway. I told them its up to me to make the decision and wear the risk if I decide not to do it. They have it recorded that the component wasnt replaced, so if it fails they can point the finger at me. I would've gotten it done anyway, but theres a right way and wrong way to do things.
They gave me credit for the extra globe and told me they'd mail out a replacement globe of the correct wattage. I questioned the oil/filters and they credited me for that. However they only credited me for the value of the products, not the labour. I never received the globe in the mail.
So yeah, everytime I go for a service, theres always something that goes wrong. And i'm stuck there to keep my 3yr used car dealer warranty.

Found carrington st auto (in the city) pretty good. They serviced my camry, replaced the back spark plugs for a pretty cheap price, only replaced what was actually necessary. I was very happy with them. Also Rowell & Searle on Pultney St for auto services and power steering. Been going there for 10 years, never had an auto fail on a car yet. Stuck going to mistu for now until my warranty expires...

I'm pretty sure that by law they can't force you to use one repairer or another to fulfill warranty. Was pretty sure that ACCC said that is restrictive to competition and thus illegal.
Look into it, as long as it is a qualified and recognised (ie: RAA/MTA or equiv. certified) then they can't void your warranty, even if there's a clause saying they can.......

has anyone used Yorke Motors in the City for a service?
I need my 45k one done in the nxt two weeks, plus a trans flush and service. I was very happy with the warranty work they did on my car.

Ive had bad experiences with Southland Mitsu oh god were they cruel to the car.
And i believe there are a few people that have had bad experiences with Yorke Motors.
Since I've done stuff to my car that will void it's warranty anyway, I don't think I'll be going back there.
We should make up an 'AMC Preferred' list of mechanics, exhaust, tyre places etc etc :D

Yorke Motors are shockers too. Australian Motors at Wayville are just as bad. I had been taking my car to Southland and these guys are tossers too!
Southland - I asked them to fix my noisy Sunroof.. So from that i get a bill, dented roof lining in two places, dirty seats and grease marks on my paint. I went back the next day and they said "It could not of been us, we are very careful here". Pigsarse.
Yorke Motors - Apart from damaging my bonnet and having to respray it twice because of them i think they are wankers. I also had the rear screen replaced twice becuase they failed to do it properly first time.
Australian Motors - Let's not get started here as i could write a story book over these incompetent pack of schoolyard monkeys. But for a start they dented my rear bumper, spilt silicon on both rear seatbelts, left water on the rooflining which went brown, left screws out from the back seat, didn't refit the console properly, charged me for wiper blades that they didn't replace and then a lot more.
So it seems there isn't a decent dealer in Adelaide that i know of. I now go to a Repco Service Centre to get all non-warranty related work done.

only problem is I thought a particular type of oil had was preferered etc, especially for transmission. That is why I was going to go to Mits for service.

Ive started taking my car to Plumpton Auto's.
Great guy, I swap cars with my mum for a day, she drives it to her work, the guy comes out, picks the car up, works on it and delivers it back before the end of work, my mum drives it home and its all sweet.
Local guy (wankers) failed my car for rego on the dumbest things, 'Steering wheel grip twists too much in one little spot' wanted $80 to get a 'pro' out to fix it. Said my wiper blades needed replacing, Maybe, although they still worked fine. After that I took it to this guy in plumpton, $65 later I had all that stuff fixed + the pinkslip.
