Hi,
Now i have sorted my insurance, i want to get a exhaust system..
I here that the tj magna sports have a 2.5 "piping stock so i probably wouldnt have to upgrade that?
Do the magna have extractors stock?
What system does everyone recommend and what kind of pricing will it cost for the whole system??
I have been looking at the magnaflow muflers and cats with rpw extractors?
Opions are much appreciated..
Thanks in advance

if i'm not mistaken tj sports has a lukey muffler LR????, similar to those used as aftermarket. you won't gain much as tj sports has already a good exhaust system. prolly the best bet to gain power is to get RPW extractor, but i could be wrong... :D

Your exhaust piping muffler will be fine. You could upgrade it but you'll risk making it noisier for more dollars than can be spent way better elsewhere. The piping is approx 2.5 so it's fine. They come with a muffler made by Walker who make Lukey so there is a bolt or weld on replacement however the gain would be neglegable.
First two steps would be filter, (K&N panel filter is dead simple and inexpensive), and extractors are a decent investment. Just wait a few weeks to see the results from RPW's latest incarnation. Should be interesting. Dave from RPW feels that the cat isn't restrictive until you're passed the 200kW mark. MagnaV6Sports13 has had a Magnaflow fitted and loves it. Then I'd look at maybe a throttle body swap, fuel pressure regulator and maybe some head / cam work with an ECU upgrade to round it out.

Your sports already has a straight through muffler. The best thing to do with your exhaust is to get extractors.
Everything else is already good :D

I've replied to you about the question u asked me already dude :D
My system runs RPW Extractors, MagnaFlow High Flow Cat and Muffler and it's the best start to modding a car.. oh don't forget the filter too..
A car that breathes better and farts easier gains power :D
I personally am not a fan of Lukey or Redback (No offence to Magna owners here please, just my own opinion)
It took me 3 months to find my MagnaFlow because I kind of scrutinised all the mufflers I looked at from performance figures, to build to weld to the materials they use, the back pressure and of course... the good old rumble :D . Mind you, Lukey mufflers make results I would say is impressive for the cheap price they offer and like the rest have said... bolt on job.
Another brand would be Apexi N1... pure and simple jap style muffler.. nice note and off course.. the name that goes with it :D 2much has one and it's rumble is shockingly nice! Sounded even better than my Evo 6 which used to have a Apexi catback N1 system.

Hi Guys thanks for all the replys,
can someone please tell me if the tj sports have extractors stock, i thought they do but i could be wrong. If they do what would be the major advantage for replacing them?
Anyone know what the rpw extractors are worth?
Thanks again

I dont think they do, I'm not 100% on the later models though, so you might be best off waiting for someone else to reply to that.
Extractors will just add to the overall breathing of your car...The stock headers are the only bottleneck in your exhaust system now, so if you replace them you'll have a very nice free flowing exhaust.
You'll notice it more at higher rpm than down low.

just to sort one thing out (i asked the same question a few years back)
every car has extractors (although most ppl only refer to them if they are modded)... it just depends on how well they work... the stock ones are normally quite restrictive due to the car company having to worry about noise/nvh and keeping costs down, they don't really care if it robs the car of a little bit of power up high!!
Custom (or tuned) extractors can be made to suit the cars for specific uses (like racing, cruising) as different combinations of length/design type (3-1 etc)/diameter produce different results!
Most tuning houses such as RPW try to find an optimum setup that increases top end power without sacrificing low end torque!
RPW's extractors start at around $600 odd and the new ones will most likely be a bit over $700... but you'll have to check with Dave or Blake as the prices can vary at any time!!

Yeah true. Even though the terminology isnt right, I usually hear Headers when referring to the stock piping, and extractors when referring to tuned length or otherwise modified designs.

Okay, the reason for having tuned length headers are so that when the exhaust gases exit the engine. It will arrive at the collector (where the pipes merge) at the same time, thus reducing the back pressure and the longer the tuned length, the more inertia and thus more torque...

the "same time" thing is wrong.... they are tuned so that the exhaust gases from each cylinder takes turns in flowing into the last big pipe (someone want to elaborate some names for me.... )
with the vacuum from the last sucking the next into the main pipe...
if two lots of gas arrive at the collector point at the same time it results in conflict and they have to fight over who goes out, causing a loss in flow!!
The basic idea of a good tuned extraction system is that once going the momentum of the outflowing gases will basically suck the exhaust out of the engine... (obviously some engines need some back pressure (diesels) so this has to be allowed if needed)...
thats the main reason why the Boxer engine in Suby's make that typical boxer sound! its to do with the exhaust timing... some guy made a trick set of 2-1 extractors for a WRX were the ports where taken from opposite sides per 2-1, instead of both from the same side.... the WRX sounded really "normal" and evidently went like a shower of shit!!!

Agreed. It creates a pulsing effect which assists in scavaging waste gas from the cylinders, (and if you can achieve overlap of inlet and outlet valve operation, this will in turn suck in more air/fuel mix = more bang). Pacemaker has some which are an interference design which are better than stock, but could be better.

Their new Liberty GT has 2-1 headers as mentioned above and has made it a whole lot better. Would be nice to do that with our V6's but probably don't have the room.

don't know exactlty if any specialise in Magna's (apart from RPW, but there in Perth... *cough* mail order)
have a quick look at www.fastmagna.com as it has a few places around sydney that helped with that project...
